Chelsea Clinton fields questions in Eugene
Her parents’ penchant for the minutiae of governing helped popularize the term “policy wonk.”

And Chelsea Clinton’s Eugene appearance Saturday made clear that she inherited that trait. The 28-year-old former first daughter told about 300 Oregon Democrats that she is “sort of a numbers dork” as she gave a detailed rundown on her mother Hillary Clinton’s plans for the presidency.

The younger Clinton spoke at the state Democrats’ convention at the Hilton Eugene. Besides her detailed recitations of data on the uninsured, the United States’ international ranking in math education and the amount of money women make compared with men, she also demonstrated that she is proud of her mother and thinks she’ll make a great president.

“It’s not only because she’s my mom, although I’m very proud that she is,” Clinton said, explaining that she was convinced that her mom was the most prepared among the candidates to deal with pressing problems.

Clinton cited her mother’s pursuit of universal health care to illustrate that point.

“My mom stood up for health care before it was really fashionable.”

Chelsea Clinton rides the Max train to Portland International Airport on Saturday, April 12, 2008. She speaks with Mary Fetsch, Communications Director for Tri-Met, right.

1. I am so sick of "my mom would make a good president"
David Shuster was SO right when he mentioned what Hill and Bill are doing with Chelsea.

8. I think you are wrong. They love Chelsea and
if Chelsea didn't want to do it they would not be able to make her do it.

3. Doesn't she have a life to get back to in New York?
It's great what she's doing, but really, she's done as much as she possibly can.

Sounds like she did pretty well dealing with sophomoric comments like yours:

4. I'd be campaigning for my mom, too.
And I think Chelsea is a very impressive young woman.

I just don't like to see her dissed.

5. That's absolute bullshit, Chelsea
“My mom stood up for health care before it was really fashionable.”

Ted Kennedy was fighting for universal health care when Hillary Clinton was still helping WalMart bust unions.

What is it with this family? Can't any of them tell the truth?

6. Hillary grabbed the healthcare ball and failed
a total friggin' bellyflop of a failure on healthcare
that arguably lost congress (and thus the supreme court).
Does anyone want a repeat of that?

He used the term "Universal Health Care" to mean single payern health insurence.

Hillary stole the phrase and perverted the meaning, with her Insurance Company backed plan.
