Phrases that should be FOREVER banned from GD:P
Edited on Sun Apr-13-08 11:18 PM by BullGooseLoony
The life of a DUer has phases to be passed through. Inevitably, we all post an impassioned thought or thoughts that other DUers have seen hundreds of times before.

I'm getting sick of running through a lot of these thoughts over and over. So I'll offer up a few of them not on the proposal that they ACTUALLY be banned, but that anyone posting them should be given a good noogie.

#1- "That's it! I'm not voting for so-and-so in the GE."

If I had a dime for every time I saw that meaningless, worn-out, desperate claim.

#2- The words "Let's be clear" as used to introduce any old idea.

Oh, thanks for working that one out for me. Find another way to open your post.

#3- "Just watch! So-and-so's gaffe that's been on the news for a week (baby-eating, puppy-kicking, etc.) is a GOOD thing and will blowback/backlash on their opponent!" Also, the phrase "playing chess, not checkers."

Please shut up. No matter what you think, the world of politics is still a gray area and everybody is going to see things differently. Maybe the sticks have moved a little one way or the other, but ultimately what is being discussed is probably as transient as an episode of Maury Povich.

#4- "So-and-so's campaign is finished!"

No, it isn't, just like it hasn't been for months.

Those are just a few of my complaints.

What are you sick of seeing in GD: P?

3. Can we ban single words?
If so, I vote for meme.

It's a perfectly good word, but it gets overused shamelessly here, and nearly always by people who have no idea what it means.

9. Yeah, I remember "meme" getting tired very quickly during the
last campaign. Haven't seen it so much this time around.

...etc. These aren't just annoying. They're dangerous to our cause.

15. Absolutely. I think what disgusts me the most is to see blatant
negative falsehoods being blown up, amplified in the name of partisanship.

Turning either of our candidates into characatures...

I'm talking black/white power bigotry. Not just racial insensitivity.

24. They're hurting each other for the general...
If either one of them can't beat that drooling fascist on their side, they damn well deserve to lose it.

I used to think that you'd be helping the other side until I met a guy in a DC bar who work for a Republican Group Opposing Evan Bayh's Presidential Run. Yep. Evan Bayh was once considering a run for office, and the repig already had a GROUP of people researching all of his shit.
TRUST ME, the days of trickle down info are gone. We have a superhighway now. No one is doing the GOP's job for them until we actually have a nominee. Then the media will do the GOP's job for them. And the media will do the GOP's job for them because they are wholly owned by them.

Way I see it, we should just snuggle down for a summer ride to Colorado.

trying to attach gate onto every word on the English language. It is getting really really old. We need to get more original when referring to incidents on the campaign trail.
