Poll question: Can everyone agree with Obama and say Gore won?
I just wonder if any of the die hard Hillary supporters can bring themselves to agree with Obama?

9. What happened to "voice of the people?"
Winning the "popular vote" means more people voted for one person over another.

Doesn't it? Also seems to "trump" those cute li'l ol' Caucuses; there's a good reason we don't play that game in my state.

10. Democratic party is a different system than the government.
They can have different rules. Just like the republican, libertarian, Green, etc..

And it is quite disgusting that Clinton supporters are trying to inject this crap into this topic.

15. #10, I've got you on IGNORE so I can't read you.
Don't know who you are, but I likely had a good reason.

Just letting you know so you don't waste your time.

2. Obama supporter saying Gore didn't win.
He won the popular vote and he certainly won Florida but he never was inaugurated and therefore did not win. Hell, Kerry "won" in 2004 too but Chimp will serve as two term President before he goes. He won. You didn't win if you didn't get to take the office.

3. Gore lost
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 03:30 AM by Onlooker
No way the race should have been so close, except Gore ran a lousy campaign that stood for nothing. He only became great after he lost. Also, politics has always been corrupt. JFK won thanks to Mayor Daley of Illinois. The Gore campaign should have been better prepared and should have fought much harder. The Republicans had the better lawyers and were tougher.

16. Agreed.
As much as I respect Al Gore, he rolled over and gave up. Coming off the highly successful Clinton Administration, an Al Gore win should have been almost automatic. They blew it.

4. Al Gore won the popular vote. He lost the vote in the Supreme Court.
Those old bastards trumped the pop V. That's the sad truth. He was robbed.

Bottom line--Gore didn't "win." If he'd "won," he'd be finishing up his second tour, and Vice President Lieberman, a progressive, socially liberal Democrat, not a snarling, defensive, "Independent" who intends to attend the GOP convention, would be on his way to being the first Jewish President....

12. Hillary did not say that Al lost.
Did you listen to her interview?

Another cynical, non-sensical poll.

It's shameful smear to imply that Hillary would go around calling Al Gore a loser.

No words of mine stated anything about Hillary Clinton. Any implication you find is purely inside your head.

nor did I imply it. All wanted was to see if die hard Hillary supporters could say that they agreed with Obama about anything and guess what? Most cannot.

14. Republicans won the White House, Democrats lost the Presidency
If Gore won, and I do think he was cheated out of the Presidency, it has to go down as one of the most hollow victories in history.

17. SHAME ON YOU for implying that Hillary would say Gore did not win!
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 08:01 AM by Apollo11
Hillary has made the smart choice by NOT commenting on the question of "who won" in 2000. Or to be more specific - who would have won in 2000 if it had been a 100% fair and square election across all 50 States including Florida, with every vote counted in line with the intent of the voter (no purging of voter lists, no butterfly ballot in Palm Beach, no hanging chads, no undervotes or overvotes).

Hillary understands that this campaign is about looking ahead to the next 4 to 8 years. Not looking back to November 2000.

Here is what Hillary actually said on CNN:
"We had two very good men and men of faith run for president in 2000 and 2004. But large segments of the electorate concluded that they did not really understand or relate to or frankly respect their ways of life."
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0804/13/se.01.html

Hillary is not saying that Gore lost. But she is trying to analyze and address one of the reasons why so many middle-class Americans apparently decided to go against their own economic interests and vote for Bush-Cheney.

23. As far as I can make out
Most die hard Hillary supporters cannot bring themselves to agree with Barack Obama on anything. This rather calls into question their ability to reason and form judgements outside of their idols campaign.
