Do you Hate Hillary or simply Dislike her?
I've been so torn over my loss of respect for both, Hillary and Bill Clinton -- I thought they had lost their every loving minds here lately. Then it came to me, that to Hillary, Bill, her big money supporters and her loyal voting supporters everywhere, there is nothing nefarious about her plan and what she's doing -- it is just as she says -- she wants to become POTUS. To that end, she needs to dirty Sen. Obama up as much as she can to make her case to the SDs that, "see, I'm electable, he's not." Deep in their hearts, they truly believe Sen. Obama is totally unelectable, while she is, obviously, the best person for the job of POTUS.

I do believe part of their reasoning has to do with race, but not all,...they can't possibly conceive that this man, this Black man, this upstart could ever win the GE over her, plus it's not his turn.

Thus, her simple statement to Richardson, "He can't win Bill." No matter how much money he raises; how well his campaign is being run; how well he speaks; how many SDs, pledged delegates, how many more contests he's won than Hillary, whether or not he has won the popular vote, his exotic background, etc., he is just an "empty suit." Hillary and her supporters truly believe she is, without a doubt, the best thing that could happen to America -- it's her turn.

Hillary's oppo team has been digging and searching for dirt on Sen. Obama for well over a year and have come up with nothing except petty, phony 'gates' regarding him, his wife, his paster and any one he's ever come in contact with in his entire life; well, as far back as kindergarten anyway.

With Hillary's long-time planning for the presidency, her inevitability ("It will be over by Feb. 5th"); her name recognition; in addition to having a popular, well-liked ex President for a husband, they were totally unprepared for the storm that is Barack Obama.

While I don't support Hillary, I'm glad that, in my mind at least, I don't hate her as I thought I did. I simply dislike her, but if by chance she happens to garner the nomination, I will vote for her.

If you've read this, thanks for listening to my tortured rant.

5. I hate her! I have also lost all the respect I had for Bill.
I never really cared for Hillary. I adored Bill Clinton. I defended him til the end. I told my son what a wonderful president he was. Unfortunately, now I see the Bill Clinton that I did not see before. He is the Bill Clinton that I did not want to see. He is the Bill Clinton that the Republicans complained about. I never could see it. Anyway, I'm finished with both of the Clintons. I will never be able to forget how he stood there and lied about Barack so many times. I will never forget how she lied about Barack and then played nice to his face (like last night). She knows that Barack is not like that but she is using it to score political points." That is why I don't like her. She comes across and vindictive and the type that would do anything to win. If I never see their faces again it will be too soon.

Mr. Richardson is a big boy and free to make any choices he likes. He liked Obama. Was he required somehow to give Hillary his vote? Feel free to explain. But with facts though, I'm a little tired of emotions and assertions not backed up with facts.

77. Once again, Mr. Richardson owes his entire career to the
Clintons.

His resume would be the size of an index card without Bill Clinton selecting his for jobs dozens of other people were equally as qualified. Let's be honest.

And while we're being honest, let's admit Richardson decided Obama is going to win the nomination.

So, in order to get another job with the White House, he decide to back Obama.

Yea, loyalty/gratitude, etc., did dictate he was required to "give Hillary his vote," since the candidates are nearly indistinguishable on issues.

11. I don't like her and never did. I have a sister that reminds me of her...
I think that some women over compensate for being women and make themselves out to be these dragon women. I never felt that threatened as to think that my intuition, my womanly way of approaching something wasn't far superior to anything some uptight authority type could come up with be it a he or a she. My sister didn't trust her intuition and tried to always think like a man. A not very nice man. I don't like the calculated, anything is fair approach. My sister once had her assistant type up her own job description for a want ad and then she fired her. That is the kind of bullshit I have NO patience for. My mother and I fight over this because she wants Hillary and I say to her that she is just like my sister. How can you like her? And she says we need a bitch in the White House. No lie. Obviously, I don't agree but I think some people do, though I think less and less each day.

Had the post been about Obama, worded the same way, my response would have been the same.

Your assumptions are wrong.

Not all Hillary supports hate Obama, nor do all Obama supporters hate Hillary.

Many of us a are Democrats who can support one candidate while still thinking the other candidate isn't "the bad guy".

Unfortunately the ones who hate on this forum tend to yell the loudest.

As I said, this is the most contentious primary I've ever seen, but I have to believe that, no matter who the eventual nominee is, we'll all put aside our likes/dislikes and get behind our Democratic candidate.

Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 07:23 AM by DemsUnited
1. Liking and respecting her *a lot*, looking forward to supporting her when she wrapped up the nomination on super tuesday.

2. Decided to cast my vote for Obama in the Potomac primaries (I'm from Virginia) but knew that I would still proudly work and vote for Clinton if she got the nomination.

3. Shocked and very uncomfortable when she said McCain would be a better commander in chief than Obama the week before Texas & Ohio.

4. Really angry when she outright said she was going to throw the kitchen at Obama and then did. Started feeling like Clinton didn't care if she caused a civil war within the Democratic party, that she would do and say anything to win.

5. Watched in horror as the Clinton campaign turned more ugly and scorched earth but still convinced myself that, even if she did somehow claw and kneecap her way to the nomination, I would have to vote for the sake of judicial nominations and the Iraq War.

6. Now, I simply can not vote for her if she steals the nomination away from Obama. After years of anger over what Karl Rove did to our politics and our country, I can not reward someone who is following the Rovian playbook word for word with my vote. Since Clinton doesn't have a snowballs chance in Virginia, I have the luxury of following my conscience. If I lived in a state she had a chance of winning, I would still be wrestling with this.

I do not believe she will get the nomination but I do believe she's divided the party terribly. Do I hate her? Right now, I'm too furious and worried about what she's doing to our party to understand how I feel about her personally.

72. I have gone through some of the same phases as you and
pretty much feel the same way about her campaign and her willingness to use RW tactics rather than give the Democratic party a chance to change the nature of discourse in this nation and to put forth real solutions at this time when they are so desparately needed.

I too am very angry with her, and I have no desire to vote for someone who is willing to tear away at the fabric of the party in this manner.

This primary just proves the Clinton's are only looking out for themselves. The race baiting, treating people like crap and elitist comment is just too much.

I voted for her husband twice (as did my mom) and have read both of their books. After she was elected to the US Senate, it became pretty obvious what her motive was. Her cozying up to RW mogul Rupert Murdoch and her vote for the Iraq War was the beginning of the end in terms of me supporting her.

Even my mom said on the phone that she has such great disdain for them now after the last few months of the campaign (and this coming from someone who pays attention to politics very little). I finally talked her into donating to Obama's campaign.

54. Do you hate Obama or simply have utter disdain for the fellow?
I'm in the latter category.

I just think she's misguided and hung around too many repugs in her life.

But I don't have whatever it takes to care enough to despise her. But I do definitely mistrust her.

64. Sadly, I dislike her now
We started this primary season out with such a great slate of candidates, almost any of them would have made me proud to have as president. But as the campaign wore on, I found Hillary's negatives to be so -- disheartening -- and it does make me sad. I thought of the Clinton years as a wonderful period of our history -- all in all, although not perfect -- and at first I didn't think having Bill back was such a bad idea. But seeing Hillary's actions has truly saddened me. The sarcasm that she addresses Obama with, the fake outrage, and then the utter fawning when face to face at debates. Who is this woman? I don't hate her, but I wanted to like her and respect her, but I can't. Will I vote for her if she is nominee? I will, I'm a Democrat through and through, but it will bring me no joy.

70. At first I disliked her policies, but I HATE LIARS! so I guess I've switched categories.
First her lies in Ohio over NAFTA< then her embellishments over the Irish Peace Plan and Schip but when Bosnia sniper fire hitWITH VIDEO TAPE PROVING SHE LIED)-she forced me over to the other side. I don't understand how supporters can trust what she is saying. Do they really want another LIAR IN CHIEF?

BTW, I lost all respect for her daughter Chelsea who was willing to back up her mother's lies. It must be a family trait.
