Republicans tell us "He's just not right for you"
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 07:53 AM by bklyncowgirl
Let's face it, girls (and guys too of course) many of us have heard that phrase. Many times it's very good advice, especially when it comes from friends who have our best interests at heart. Other times it's just plain wrong--especially when it comes from people with an agenda of their own.

Right now Democrats are in an interesting position. Given a choice between two attractive and historic candidates, they've all but chosen to marry the tall dark and handsome fellow from Chicago. But now they're hearing those infamous words

"He's just not right for you."

The words are coming from essentially two sources. The first is the Clinton campaign--that's expected of course. Hillary Clinton obviously believes she'd be much better for us otherwise she would not be running. We can assess her words for what they're worth.

The second is the Republican party. Listen to any GOP operative this weekend gleefully harping on how damaging Barack Obama's comments on "Bitter people from small towns clinging to guns and religion" will damage Democrats chances of winning the presidency--I'm listening to Joe Scarborough saying just this sort of thing as I type. Republicans will use this agains Obama in the fall. He's like Gore or Kerry an effete latte sipping snob.

"He's just not right for you."

I ask you, friends, does it make sense for Democrats to do what Republicans want them to do? Do Republicans have the Democratic party's best intersts at heart?

Do Democrats have enough strength of mind and sense of their own worth to do what is in their own best interst?

The soap opera continues...and continues....and continues.
