Here's why I'm mad... (Saying 'bitter' confuses people)
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 01:03 PM by Symarip

Take a good look at how well our government protected us after 9/11. Take a good look at what your candidate(s) voted in favor of. Shame on us for wanting a change and believing in a little bit of hope? Shame on you for not recognizing where the need for change and hope comes from.

Bitter? Hell, 'bitter' doesn't even begin to describe how angry this veteran is. Every single Senator who voted in favor of the IWR should be sent to the Hague with Resident Bush to answer for this. Their hands are eternally tainted with blood.

So continue fighting over words. Continue fighting over sexism vs. racism or whatever bullshit mini-contests you need to justify your support. Continue fighting because you've invested so much moral stock into one person you have to overlook the truth about one, single, fundamental mistake that has taken the lives of thousands.

Nothing excuses the death of the innocent. It's the Armed Forces job to protect us, and these motherfuckers in Washington job to protect them. They failed them, and failed us.

Some days, I'm ashamed to be an American.

Edited: Saying 'bitter' is obviously too confusing in understanding the scope of my post.

1. And long after that vote, she was still out there parroting the WH lies about Iraq.
Why would she back up the White House's lies about Iraq being a threat?

Why?

3. And her Kyl-Lieberman vote
would lead us to an Iranian war as well. We must end this now!

15. I guess Hillary should have listened to W when he said...
"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once — shame on — shame on you. You fool me, you can't get fooled again."

She was sure ready to be fooled by W again on that Kyl-Lieberman vote.

7. Where in my OP did I make mention about what Obama said?
I'd appreciate if you don't change the subject. This is why I'm mad.

In fact, you know what? Fuck it. I'll change the title just for you.

12. it's the root meaning and we know it. I understand the response should NOT have been to 'why aren't
...people voting for him' and he should have framed that answer into another question but he wasn't TOO much off the mark and could've been more nuanced.

He didn't take his time with the answer and it sounded pat when taken out of context.

14. ...
"People don't vote on economic issues because they don't expect anybody is going to help them," Obama told a crowd at a Terre Haute, Ind., high school Friday evening. "So people end up voting on issues like guns and are they going to have the right to bear arms. They vote on issues like gay marriage. They take refuge in their faith and their community, and their family, and the things they can count on. But they don't believe they can count on Washington."

I don't think anyone who voted for this war should be re-elected to Congress, much less to the presidency.

16. Oh yeah.
This shit is way too confusing. I mean, how can someone be bitter about anything else than what's currently being spun on 24/7 news?

What the fuck was I thinking?!

22. It's been this way for too long.
For all everyone on DU complains about the media's delight at salacious or defamatory news, it's the exact same way here.
Posts like this with any substance and meaning don't get attention. Very sad. I'm sorry.

24. It's a hard pill to swallow so people don't want to respond
Suck it down, people. You can keep banging your pots and pans over shit that doesn't matter. Keep pretending that Obama attending a fucking Rezko party is as important as sending people to die. Keep crying foul over words like 'bitter' because that is *SO* meaningful when decent men, women and children are dying because of our hand. Keep it up. I'll be here to remind you of all the things you want to forget about your favorite candidate(s).

This matters.
