A blogger at dailykos smells something fishy about Hillary's banded duck story and lays out a very entertaining time line...

Hillary's Claim to Duck Hunting Fame is getting some notice tonight... I thought I'd dig a little deeper to see when and where this tale has been told. I'm left thinking... this doesn't pass the sniff test.

Well, we know when it was, it's in the book, Christmas 1988. Hillary shot a banded duck, something rare and worth celebrating as any hunter could tell you it's considered a trophy.

One last thing... in 1988, Duck Hunting Season was Nov 21-Dec 18 then Dec 26-Jan 1st... Keep that in mind if they ever do come up with a date certain.

If Hillary did Shoot a Duck, first shot out the blind, and his the elusive Banded Duck she claims, surely, photos better than the below exist

One of the things I learned is that the banded duck is a prize, and that there those who have duck hunted for years and never shot a banded duck. So for Clinton to just pluck one out of the sky on her one and only foray into duck hunting really does sound like a fish tale.

11. For anyone to "claim"

They shot any bird out of the sky on their "first" shot without proof of prior bird hunting experience, is nothing more than BS! It's not like shooting at targets that don't move. You have to know how to lead the bird, and that's not something that happens without lots of practice. Sorry, but once again Hillary is having another one of her "truth" moments, or should I say "lack" of truth!

12. One shoots ducks with a shotgun, right? One teaches a little girl (or boy)

to shoot with a 22 rifle. Most likely. However, it's reasonable to say one doesn't have a child shoot a shotgun. In her book,Living History, HRC states around page 8, that: "My father taught me to shoot a gun behind the cottage, and we practised aiming at cans or rocks."

So who taught her to handle a shotgun? When? I took a rifle range course from a Marine gunnery sargeant in college and was a pretty good target shooter. But a few years later when a state policeman/student of mine took a couple of us to a firing range and I fired a shotgun for the first time, the damn thing had such a kick it almost knocked me off my feet.

And it just sounds very strange to me that a woman would go on a hunting excursion with a group of men without her husband. She was evidently the only woman there. Where was Bill? In my marriage, sometimes my husband and I did things with other couples. He golfed with the guys; I played bridge with the ladies. I didn't go anywhere as the only woman with a group of men; and he didn't go anywhere as the only man with a group of women. It's odd. This was during that 12 year period Bill was involved with Gennifer Flowers.

You know what, I don't even want to know how much she's making up/embellishing/omitting about her experience shooting rocks, ducks or whatever. Because with the Clintons, you always seem to end up at some seamy, sleazy reality of their marriage of convenience.

I was leaning toward giving Hillary the benefit of the doubt with shooting down the duck, it was the banded duck detail I thought was probably an embellishment. Now, not so sure...

It really depends if where she was hunting the federal or
state government had banded birds in the area or flight birds
stopped on their migration south.

 Some local areas do have a higher banded  rate than many
other parts of the state. There are some areas in Pa where it
is really quite easy to shoot a banded waterfowl. 

 As for hitting the bird with her first shot, it's plausible. 
Even a blind squirrel will find a nut once in a while.

Am I voting for her. No.  But I have to give her the benefit
of the doubt on this one. 

She may have been tired and was having a old persons monument.
 Maybe she was confusing Pa with Arkansas, a very good duck
hunting state.
