Uh, Oh... Chatty Crowd Forces Clinton to Cut Speech Short - CBS
<snip>

PHILADELPHIA -- Hillary Clinton was forced to cut her normal stump speech short when a chatty and meddlesome crowd kept her from grasping their attention. Clinton, who was addressing the Philadelphia County Democratic Party's Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, spoke for just over five minutes, despite having the press arrive almost two hours beforehand.

The crowd never settled down during her remarks. A spokesman for Clinton denied that she cut the speech short, and told reporters that Clinton was advised by her Pennsylvania team to deliver “a short speech" given the set up of the event.

In previous party dinners, most recently in Butte, Mt., Clinton spoke for almost an hour to a crowd that seemed to be paying attention. The aide said this was a “different type” of J-J Dinner, primarily because people were not seated at tables, and were “milling around” the banquet hall.

Whether or not Clinton’s reception at the dinner had anything to do with her recent attacks on Barack Obama remains unclear. Clinton has never delivered a formal speech in such a short amount of time. The most recent abbreviated speech was back on February 15 when Clinton spoke to a crowd at a Lockheed Martin plant in Akron, Ohio. The speech lasted for just 12 minutes, with the first applause line coming 11 minutes into the speech.

6. Y'all Pennsylvanians are really doing us proud!
I have to say, I've been both pleasantly surprised and extremely humbled by their reaction to this whole manufactured controversy. Pennsylvanians are obviously very astute people.

Its funny. I called about 40 homes tonight in my area
No one brought up Bitter-gate at all.

Most I talked to were undecideds (as we have primarily identified the Clinton/Obama supporters so far) and the ones that spoke more than 5 minutes all said that ending the war was their motivating factor.

To a one, they are all planning to watch the debate this week.

These folks see through the BS and are focused on the issues.

23. I had fun
Had a few snarl, "I don't want to talk", a few politely tell me they are voting for Clinton (but they sounded rather non-plussed, definitely not agitated) but the Obama people were thrilled I called. They were funny. :D There were just a few of them -- most have already been identified and off the call lists.

The unknowns were all also very nice. Most just said, "I'll decide this week" but the ones who did want to talk further all talked about the war. Talked with a few who have family in Iraq. :(

If you have time in your day, jump on the phone to us. You will enjoy talking politics with the people here. They may be undecided, but they definitely have interest in the topic!

I just want to take this time to say thank you to all my fans. I couldn't have gotten here with my lovely and supportive family. And of course, there are all the little people who have contributed to my success as well. Thank you. Thank you all.

24. Let me tell you...I grew up in Philadelphia
and I am here to tell you that my home city invented bitterness. Now, whether they will admit it or not is another thing, but it's pervasive. And, for the record, I love the city for it.

21. I have seen everything from 15 minutes to an hour depending on the venue
What do you consider the length of time for "his usual stump speech"?

Wisconsin was 45 minutes, IIRC, Virginia was an hour and Iowa, 30 minutes.
