As I've said elsewhere, the reason these people are clinging to their faith and their guns, is because over the past 25 years they have LOST everything else - their jobs, their pensions, their futures, their unions, their healthcare, their homes. The republicans run on the threat that the Democrats will take away these last things they can call their own. OF COURSE they are bitter.
