1. Before Feb. 2007
I registered with this username in Jan. 2007, but was for him years prior to that. I like him more every day, very comfortable that I made a sound choice.

3. I wish I knew exactly..it just kinda
happened on DU one day. It was after the Oprah show in South Carolina but before SuperTues. I know I was really happy he won in Iowa..I remember going to work and saying "Obama won Iowa!" and getting all these silent looks.

I guess I was for him before Iowa(Jan 3, 2008) and after Oprah's Dec 9, 2007 campaign rally in South Carolina. Small window..:D So I voted wrong:)

11. I know it was sometime last Spring for me, but I really couldn't say
when and I really couldn't say why. I do know that the more I've seen, the more excited I've become.

23. Actually, so little has changed for me since that thread.
Going through it, I noticed that I said that Edwards was my #2 choice; he still is. And that I would be thrilled with an Obama/Edwards ticket; I still would be.

So what is the point of all this campaigning business anyway? ;)

I think that EffieBlack's first post was in that thread too, which is awesome.

7. I was actually pretty indifferent until a few weeks before Iowa.
I was a little cold to Clinton's candidacy because of the dynastic aspect, but wouldn't have been troubled by her nomination at all. I'd have voted for her in the general without reservation and probably would have contributed to her. And I really liked most of the other contenders.

In the weeks before Iowa I finally started focusing on the contest and decided that Obama offered a rare opportunity for the party and this country to break from the past and move forward. I've been a strong supporter ever since.

However, my opinion of the Clintons (both of them) has gone in the other direction. Like a lot of people, I was pissed by the South Carolina campaign. Even so, going into Super Tuesday, I would still have voted for her in the general without too much queasiness and I might have still contributed. But in the weeks before the Ohio/Texas primaries, I really started wondering whether I could actually bring myself to vote for this person. At this point I don't think I could. Maybe, if by some terrible twist of fate she claws her way to the nomination, I might come around when faced with the prospect of four more years of McBush garbage -- but it would be a struggle. It's depressing.

9. After Edwards dropped out
I was an original Kucinich supporter that switched to Biden when it was clear good old Dennis was going nowhere. After Biden and Dodd dropped out, I went over to the Edwards side. This didn't last very long! Once Edwards dropped out, I went for Obama because he was the only alternative left to the corrupt Clintons.

I have come to love Obama since then!

12. I was split before Super Tuesday
I liked them both A LOT. Then the kitchen sink started to fly. That sealed the deal for me. It's a shame because Bill was my favorite President of all time.

17. When Al Gore received the Nobel Peace Prize.
It was Gore/Obama all the way, baby, but I realized Gore had moved on to a more ethereal plane and that it was time to give the new kid a shot. That's the new kid that was downright prescient on the Iraq War. Yep, that's the one.

Dodd deserves something for his dedication and hard work IMHO; I'd like to see him (or Russ?) as majority leader, if not on the Obama ticket.

19. Chris Dodd struck me as a very decent man
I was taken by his moving his family to Iowa for the campaign. Too bad he was ignored by the voters in Iowa.

The same could be said about Biden.

28. Thanks for the reminder
Yes, Dodd did show lots of spine in opposing telecom immunity. Leaving the campaign trail to return to Washington to defend our rights against the companies that broke the law.

21. Super Tuesday was my final decision--when I voted for him, but
I had pretty much been supporting him after Edwards dropped out. But I thought about it for a while and waited to get to know him a little better before making up my mind for sure.

Honestly, though, looking back, it was the New Hampshire speech that made the decision much less difficult at that time. I remember just sitting there with my mouth literally hanging open listening to him, just thinking, "this guy is going to be our next president" and being elated about it and excited in a way I can't remember ever being before.

Everything since then has confirmed that I made the right decision.

30. The Nevada Caucus. When Edwards didn't hit the threshold,
I knew he didn't have a chance. SC confirmed it.

But, I knew he was Presidential and a winner when I saw him in Columbia, SC at one of the first big rallies. I was no longer concerned about the prospect of having to back him. I was not worried about him. I could tell he knew what he was doing, and had the talent to do it.

31. originally i was for kucinich however...
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 11:48 PM by Ysabel
(sadly) i didn't ever think that he could win (everything is just so stacked against him altho thankfully that is not the case in ohio i'm so glad that he won again there)...

i believe that obama cares about many issues that are very dear to me and so i was leaning towards him from the very beginning despite (ah that's not the word i want to use but i'm tired) also very much supporting kucinich's ideas...

- go obama...!!!

p.s i never considered clinton at all...

p.p.s. go kucinich...

p.p.p.s. fuck you hillary and fuck you too john mccain...

- :D

edited: cuz as i said i'm tired and well i'm typo impaired anyway...

I still think he would be the best choice, but Obama is a reasonable second.
