Rendell: Obama Has A Real Good Chance To Carry Pennsylvania In The GE
“Guns & Bitter: As even the network newscasts, for a third consecutive day, embraced the supposed controversy over Senator Obama's "bitter" remarks...Our fifth story on the Countdown: the bracing slap of a wet blanket, felt all the way from the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Philadelphia tonight. If Obama's the nominee, the politician was asked, do you think he's un-electable. "No," he replied. "I believe he has a real good chance to carry Pennsylvania, I just believe that Sen. Clinton would carry it far more easily." Are the "bitter" remarks going to decide the primary there? "I think it'll cost a couple of points at the margin, but it's not a sea change. Who knows, by the time November rolls around, I think this comment will be long forgotten." All of that said tonight by... Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell... who, if not Senator Clinton's strongest supporter this primary season, has certainly been her loudest. His remarks tonight perhaps signalling that even the Clinton campaign is giving up trying to turn the Obama comments into a forest fire.”

12. but 2/4 of those polls are old. They're from late March.
I don't think they're relevant now, given the amount of campaigning that's been done in the interim.

The two most recent PA polls have him up by 7 and 8 respectively.

18. 3 Major Newspapers in PA endorse Obama
Two major newspapers in PA have recently endorsed Obama - the Morning Call (in the Lehigh Valley - the fourth largest paper) and the Times-Tribune (the largest paper in northeastern PA, including Scranton). The largest paper, the Philadelphia Inquirer, endorsed Obama back in January. Here's excerpts of the Times-Tribune endorsement:

http://www.thetimes-tribune.com

"Mr. Obama has energized an entire generation of voters that, for the most part, otherwise had checked out of political participation. That, at least, portends a new approach to governance that can help to dissipate the political miasma that has engulfed Washington at least since the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

... Mrs. Clinton also is a political lightning rod. There is little doubt that a second Clinton presidency would further the deep divisiveness that characterizes American politics — a divisiveness that dug itself deep during the Clinton presidency, and even deeper during the Bush-Cheney years.

The first task for the next president is to get past that. And it might not be possible if the presidential cycle goes Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton.

Mrs. Clinton has dismissed much of what Mr. Obama has had to say as “just words.” But they are words that millions find inspirational. Therefore, they are words that can be translated into action.... The real difference lies in their likely ability to build the consensus needed to realize their vision. The advantage, in that regard, clearly lies with Mr. Obama. "

21. Sunbury Paper Endorses Obama
http://www.dailyitem.com/0110_editorials/local_story_103231523.html

The Sunbury PA Daily Item has endorsed Obama.

Very few PA papers have endorsed either candidate. They probably don't want to offend their divided readers.

22. He will help Obama when the time comes
We all need to remeber sometimes we are all on the same side in the end. I don't beleive any poll that says 20% of Hillary or Barack supporters will vote for Mccain.
