Why do I feel like I am taking my life into my own hands when I bring Barack up to women?
Edited on Mon Apr-14-08 11:51 PM by truthpusher
I have not seen women this pissed off at me... ever! Some of the women that I have most admire for there beliefs and politics are suddenly acting like I am the worst person alive because I support Obama? From the reactions I have been getting, you would think Obama eats babies in his spare time? What is it that women find so horrific about him? Is it that they think Hilary needs protecting? I really don't get it? Seriously, WTF is going on?

based on what they stand for, not just to be "one of the crowd".

It doesn't matter if you decide to vote for Clinton or Obama, just do it for the RIGHT reasons. :eyes:

Particularly after his "bitter" comments. We had a great weekend campaigning, people couldn't wait to express their anger at his comments. Some were even walking into our office just to vent.

15. She is being treated like any other fucking candidate
Get over it. You folks really think that other presidential candidates haven't fared much worse in the past? You have no fucking problem dishing it out to Obama and his supporters, but when you face any sort of criticism, you start screaming about "dirty politics". Hell, this hasn't even really gotten personal yet! The vast majority of attacks I've seen on Clinton have been on issues, her statements, and her history - you know, those vile "right-wing" tactics that you folks scream about whenever you don't want anyone touching Her Highness.

If you think it's bad now, you better find a deep bunker somewhere if Hillary does manage to win the nomination.

46. By Bill? Or by Bill's women? Is that who they think is treating her poorly?
Our Missoula for Obama office is stafffed by women volunteers, most of them are older retired women who are gung ho for Obama.

I don't think they like the way Bill treats Hill though.

They also don't like Hill (or Bill) endorsing the Republican candidate for president.

I think that he's a creep who shouldn't run even for dog catcher.

The rest of the Repugs. I didn't dislike on a personal level, I just don't agree with their policies.

The Dems. I was neutral on all of them, but was a Hillary supporter from the beginning. Obama I always found a bit arrogant and too inexperienced to be president this time around. I still think so, but now I also feel nothing but utter disdain for the fellow.

41. Why do you suppose the vast majority on DU have had the exact same reaction to Hillary
as you have had to Obama? Keep in mind that most DUers including myself were Edwards supporters and now that it's between Obama and Clinton 90% have turned to Obama. You liked Hillary all along and turned on Obama when it ended up between your candidate and him. For most of us, we turned against Hillary because of her tactics. Since Obama wasn't our candidate don't you think we would tend to be more fair in turning against Hillary then someone who supported Obama from the beginning?

When being 100% truthful with yourself, is your hate for Obama because you support Clinton or out of solid reasoning?

Seriously, only a few people I know like Hillary. Of those, I don't think any of them have anything against Obama; they just prefer Hillary. Of the people I know who do have a preference, including women, the vast majority are strong and enthusiastic for Obama. Many of them expressly do not like Hillary; a few are neutral on her.

The strongest Hillary supporter I've known is my mother in law. She spoke for Hillary at a caucus. In the past week, though, she's been expressing that she's considering switching over to Obama.

I'm involved in a variety of professional associations, several charitable organizations and have a rolodex that I've been offered cash for (literally). Not that any of that's your business, but I just had to explain to you the absurdity of making assumptions about people based upon your own prejudices and hate. It's self-limiting and only makes you look bad, not me.

40. I have seen some extremely strong responses from women...
...I have not gone around talking to lots of women about this election, but the few that I have have been extremely strong Hilary supporters that act like I do not support HRC because of her femaleness more so than her political-ness. The women that I usually talk to about politics are typically more socially acting and aware... that's why I like talking to them... but this election cycle is different... they cut the conversation dead because they feel like I am not open to electing a women? I find it strange that such usually open minded women seem closed off when it comes to this topic... I find the whole thing very odd.

And most of them are older women. Actually, two of the most loyal Hillary supporters that I do know are men. Also, out here in real life, even those who support Hillary are perfectly calm about someone supporting Obama. And vice-versa. There's not all this hate on either side. They just want one of them to win in November. Pretty much all the young people I know of either sex are for Obama.

70. I'm a woman and I support Obama.
The women who are supporting Hillary only because she is a woman is hurting other women.
Womens right is about being treated and treating others as equal and that means using your brains.
Any one that goes to vote should be voting on the candidate and how they relate to the issues NOT because of the sex.
I have seen so many women accuse men of sexism just because they disagree with Hillary on issues. It blows my mind. It's women who act like that that are hurting women.

I support Obama not because he is a male, not because he is black.
I am a white woman who agrees with him on the issues. If the women don't like that it's to dam bad.

71. I don't know. Probably just because we are incapable of rational
thought and the mere mention of a man drives us all into some sort of homocidal rage? Or maybe that's the women who support Hillary. <rme>

I support Hillary and someone mentioning Barak does not have that effect on me.

But feel free to keep painting with your broad brush.
