5. This is the first war when the right win neocons are out there saying
That the deaths must go unnoticed and even unmentioned - as anything other than that is unpatriotic.
No other war had that requirement -- that the dead not be mentioned. In WWII, the dead were even celebrated - you had a star to put in your window, I believe.

Those serving are expected to tell th media that they are happy to be in Iraq. And that they don't
wanna come home. Anything else is considered unpatriotic.

Again in WWII, the most common thing that the soldiers wrote in letters home awwas the sentiment that they hoped it was over soon. That they would be back soon. That feeling inspired the song "I'll be home for Christmas"
