New LA Times/Bloomberg polls of PA, Indiana and NC--Obama lookin' Good (results here)
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 04:07 PM by book_worm
PA Hillary up 46-41
Indiana Obama up 40-35
NC Obama up 47-34

WASHINGTON -- With three crucial Democratic primaries looming, Hillary Rodham Clinton may not be headed toward the blockbuster victories she needs to jump-start her presidential bid -- even in Pennsylvania, the state that was supposed to be her ace in the hole, a new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found.

The survey found the New York senator leading Barack Obama by just 5 percentage points in Pennsylvania, which votes next Tuesday. Such a margin would not give her much of a boost in the battle for the party's nomination.

What is more, the poll found Clinton trails Obama by 5 points in Indiana, another Rust Belt state that should play to her strengths among blue-collar voters.

In North Carolina, an Obama stronghold, he is running 13 points ahead.

The race remains volatile, however, because many likely voters in the Democratic primaries are still undecided -- 12% in Pennsylvania, 19% in Indiana and 17% in North Carolina

1. WooHoo! Indiana!
I think he can win that one. It's possible he could take PA, but I still think she's got a single digit win coming there.

3. GOBAMA!
Too bad they were conducted starting before "Bittergate" (g-d, does that sound ridiculous?), but still encouraging. Indiana is pretty surprising...that state seems tailor-made for Clinton.

29. Bittergate HELPS Obama
Just as Wright-gate helps him

Remember that before the Wright thing, a lot of people were still believing Obama is a Muslim. There is no question at all now that he goes to a Christian church. We can argue about whose church is better than teh next one, but most church people start to get a littler nervous at that point, because there is some weirdness in every church and it is better not to start asking too many questions.

Bitter-gate unquestionably helps him. Clinton looks utterly foolish trying to turn it into a gun-right issue, and to do that, she has to argue that people are not angry. Say what?

9. how sad
if it was Hillary up in all three states you'd be jumping up for joy.

BTW, NC Obama leads 71-5 among African-Americans with 24% undecided, I think most will break (if other states are any guide) for Obama.

27. You mean they don't push poll them and insist on a meaningless response?
Who do you favor? Neither right now.

Who are you leaning toward? I'm truly undecided, both have things in their favor.

If you had to say a name right now, and no one held you to it, but we were holding a gun to your dog's head, which would you pick? OK, Hillary

"Hey Marty, we got a solid Hillary over here!"

Time will tell who is right. Different polls different results. This also is pretty close to what the new Quinnipiac Poll showed today a six-point Hillary lead in PA.

18. OK, so that's two states for Clinton and two for Obama.
At this stage that's not good enough for Clinton. She needs blowouts in each and every remaining state to have any chance at all. A split just doesn't make it for her.

There must be something left in there to throw at Obama. Seeing as how passover is coming up I'd suggest a barrage of gefilte fish and matzah balls.

But I'm telling you... I was living in Indiana for most of my life up until a couple of years ago. Indiana is going to go Obama in a big way. Well, Bloomington, Gary, and Indianapolis certainly will... Lafayette maybe.

"Whitestown" and Lynchburg... eh not so much :( Yes those towns do exist.
