Dan Abrams, desperate because Bittergate isn't sticking, is devoting an entire segment to LAPEL PIN GATE !

When was the last time you saw Obama hold a cute, cuddly kitten in his arms? See? SEE???

I seriously expect something along these lines from the Clinton camp later this week.

Which is why it's ridiculous that he's bringing this up.

Also, let's hope he doesn't suck at basketball. :)

5. I am an enthusiastic supporter of whomever
the Democratic Party nominates. I am also a combat zone veteran and a military retiree. I look forward to waxing philosophical with any fucking chickenshit fake patriot cowardly chickenhawk who equates wearing a flag lapel pin with patriotism. The conversation will be ugly and short. They always are.

Wearing a lapel pin is as patriotic as going to the Dominican Republic and getting it up with Viagra to fuck little boys.

Jack Kingston: Republican Hypocrite (UPDATED)
by Democrashield
Thu Feb 28, 2008 at 11:33:13 AM PDT
Cross-Posted at Democrashield

Two days ago I wrote about the right wing's latest attack on Barack Obama--basically, that he's unpatriotic because he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin.

Some excerpts--and Kingston's stunning hypocricy--below the fold.

Democrashield's diary :: ::
Key excerpts:

Of course, anyone with $2 in their pocket can wear an American flag pin, regardless of what they believe. In fact, how many politicians have worn that pin while tearing down nearly everything this great country stands for?

Patriotism isn’t defined by what we wear–it’s defined by what we do. And through his actions, Barack Obama has shown us what true patriotism is

<...>

So, Barack Obama doesn’t wear a flag lapel pin. But you know what? Neither does

(you'll be pleasantly relieved as to who)(Gotchya Repukes)

~snip~
I won't, though--it's just plain stupid to judge someone's patriotism on whether or not they wear a $2 flag lapel pin. This all just shows how desperate Republicans are to attack Obama--they don't have legitimate criticism to throw at him, so they come up with this kind of gutter politics nonsense.

Of course, it's backfiring because these guys keep getting caught with their pants down. Note to Republicans: if you're going to criticize someone for not wearing a flag pin, you better make sure there aren't a bunch of pictures out there of you not wearing yours. Because this hypocricy exposes you for what you are--desperate, shameless partisan hacks.

Just like Jack Kingston--the shame of Georgia.

13. Actually, they're attacking him now because he put one on today that was
given to him by a veteran. The new meme is that he's a hypocrite and the lapel pin really means nothing to him, because the fact that a veteran gave it to him couldn't possibly have touched him because months ago he said he wouldn't wear one but now he is (cue up old sound bite).

It's all very confusing.. watching them try to make hay out of nothing.

Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 09:31 PM by cottonseed
and probably both shows entire staffs is that the Abram's (big cable) guys have absolutely no sense of self. I love when Abrams does his little piece on 'Why America hates Washington', then the guy spend an hour w/ 3 other guests analyzing the Lapel Pin. Do these guys have no sense of irony here? The segment should be an example of 'Why America hates Cable News'.

24. See.. I read that earlier and nearly had an aneurysm when I heard Abrams intro the segment by
saying: "Later.. Obama takes a flag lapel pin out today and slaps it on".. or something like that. I don't know if, during the break, someone informed the stupid twit that Obama was given the pin by a veteran, because he seemed to grudgingly and minimally cover the vet aspect, and focused on the "hypocrite Obama". Implied that Obama was being insincere. It was really disgusting.

"Are you insane giving Obama a "loss" for accepting a flag pin from a Vet. and putting it on? He said he wouldn't wear one after the Iraq War started because it was an empty symbol of patriotism. But having the HONOR of getting one from someone who has actually fought in a war and now supports you as a presidential candidate gives it real meaning. I'm surprised at you."

41. Let's see...
Harvard Law Degree
Community Organizer
Former Illinois State Senator helped working families by working with both Democrats and Republicans to create State Earned Income Tax Credit, expanded early childhood education, worked to create a system where interrogations and confessions of capital cases were videotaped.
US Senator, (from his website http://www.barackobama.com/about/ ) In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

<snip>

But, he doesn't wear a flag lapel pin so, no, you couldn't possibly vote for him...

They are like totally getting desparate... Received an email criticizing him for not wearing a lapel pin... I would like to jam a few pins down the senders throat... but don't worry, I will accomplish more with words...
