"Some people call you the elites; I call you my base."
Just so we don't forget that little episode from 2000 when the GOP beats the "elite" drum against Obama in the coming months.

"This is an impressive crowd - the haves and the have-mores," quipped the GOP standard-bearer . "Some people call you the elites; I call you my base."

3. Yes, and gawd knows how much he enriched them with the 2050
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 09:30 PM by Amonester
how much he enriched them (his Enron-type base) with the 2050 generation's money (if any...).

All the while his base were looking at all the loopholes they could find to ship their fortunes and the good-paying jobs abroad!

Even the base who screwed up big time: their chimp is now bailing them out!

Nevermind the hyper-inflation this unprecedented bailing-out is creating!

5. I saw Rove on tv bashing Obama with the elite meme
Of course, it was fine for his guy all along.

I hope the 2050 generation isn't so dumbed down that they're just walking zombies.

4. "The Base" = where have I heard that before?
Wikipedia sez this:

Al-Qaeda, alternatively spelled al-Qaida, al-Qa'ida or al-Qa'idah, (Arabic: القاعدة‎; transliteration: al-qā‘idah; translation: The Base

Now I'm really confused...

7. Imagine if those words came from Obama or any Dem
you would never hear the end of it in the media.

But it came from a Republican, so they get a pass. :puke:

8. I heard today that the GOP will be pushing the elite meme in the months ahead
It may have been on Kieth O's program. It kept bugging me until I realized that Bush had embraced the word back in the 2000 election season. Let's remember to throw it in their faces. I know I'm going to do just that to shut down right wingers I know who usually parrot the talking points.

Thanks for your reply!

11. I hope someone in the the campaign is aware of it
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 09:57 PM by nebula
Obama really does need to start using some of these Bushisms against them (Hill, McLame AND the media who will never stop trying to bludgeon him with the 'elitist' meme).

It would be the best way to QUICKLY and efficiently diffuse the ridiculous 'elitist' accusation. It would also help raise public awareness of who the GOP are really working for.

13. A politician poking fun at his campaign at a light-hearted joke-telling fundraiser?
I wonder why nobody else thought this was as scandalous as the people who saw it, sans context, in F911 did.

16. It might have been a joke, but it was also TRUE
Edited on Tue Apr-15-08 10:07 PM by nebula
it plays right in with what Obama has been saying all along, at every campaign stop--that McCain wants to continue the Bush economic policy of more tax cuts for the 'elites' while giving the middle finger to the poor and middle class.
