5. I've written twenty books -- trust me, the average writer doesn't earn that
I make about what an average first-year teacher makes.

11. You certainly have the right name for being a famous author.
I think I'd shorten it, tho--maybe drop the three digits at the end, and for God's sake capitalize it! You're no e e cummings.

18. 4 x 8 = 32 Million which is definitely less than 109 Million
Edited on Wed Apr-16-08 05:55 PM by jsamuel
but when you are comparing 32 million to 109 million, the degree of difference isn't really much

24. There's no comparison
Obama's first book was written over 10 years ago (or something like that) but only began to sell big recently.. when he became a household name. That's when he also wrote the second one. He might eventually pull in the kind of money that Bubba has made on his books, but he's got a loooong way to go before he can get there.

Actually I say more power to all of them. If I could make that kinda cash writing, I certainly would.

Obama reports income of $4.2 million in 2007 tax returns

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer 3 minutes ago

PHILADELPHIA - Democratic Sen. Barack Obama reported $4.2 million in income in 2007. The presidential candidate released his tax returns on Wednesday. He said his adjusted gross income was around $4.2 million, with $4 million coming from the profits on his two books — "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope." His Senate salary is $260,735.

Obama paid federal taxes of $1.4 million. Charitable contributions were $240,370.

The campaign released the returns just hours before a candidate debate.

Hillary's turn.

23. The Clinton's $109m was for two people (mostly Bill)
So if you are going to compare Hillary to Obama, you need to split the 109 in half, then divide by 8, which makes her "share" 6.8 million. So there you go.

I'm not sure what Bill's percentage of their earning was, but say it's 75%. If so, Obama actually earned more than Clinton did!

Now we'll talk about the charity angle. Did he donate 10% of it to charity? (Actually, I am playing devil's advocate here, because in my perfect world, we wouldn't need to donate to charities, the government would help its own).

30. No, I don't suck at math. I said IF BILL EARNED 75% of the money
Then her "share" (this whole conversation is ridiculous anyway) for last year would be 3.4 million, which is less than 4.6.

In other words, Obama himself earned more than Hillary herself last year. Which, if he earned 4.6 million, he probably did.
