Looks like Obama worried too much about the economy in the midwest during the Clinton years

Obama worried in San Francisco about "jobs' that "were never replaced" in Pennsylvania and the midwest.

But judging by the money people were earning in the midwest during the Clinton years, whatever jobs were lost were replaced with better paying ones. Krugman gives us this graph:

1. mean income is useless without sense of variation
an increasing income gap (billionaires at top) can skew a mean. Also doesn't show geographic variation; I expect Minneapolis was doing great.
