Big win for Clinton last night. Obama might collapse....
Obama has really taken huge hits over his "bitter" comments and ABC did not toss him softballs last night. Honest questions.

If Clinton wins PA, which I think she will, look for a lot of folks to switch over to her.

74. we watched the same debate, right? While he did look tired, it says something that
he has outspent her by three to one, with bundles and bundles of cash, he still can't eek out PA. If he can't carry a big swing state in a primary, than it is clear that these red state caucuses were nothing more than fluff.

90. The problem comes in when you fail to admit they are competing for the same people.
In the election, when she is gone, the competition is no longer subdividing the same electors and Obama will out perform what her chances were.

Much more can be said about why she isn't winning, if she is so much better.

The only thing that carried her this far is name recognition.

14. She will probably win by less than 10 points, maybe 6%.
That's insignificant. She cannot catch Obama, and even strong Hillary supporters have said they will go with the leader in PD's on June 3rd.

Obama has the National lead, that is what matters now. The SD's will go to the leader in the national polls, the PD's, the states won, the popular vote, and the one with the best numbers against McCain.

In other words-Nominee Barack Obama by June 3rd.

18. I disagree
I do believe that there was some bias at the debate last night and since I didn't see it had to go to websites other than democratic ones to read about it.

It appears that 80% of those who watched it thought that the moderators used the debate to attack Senator Obama and were quite surprised really.

Thankfully Americans are more aware than ever and saw through the idiocy and wasted time.

What a shame that the best way we get to hear about the issues was wasted on hackneyed and inconsequential rhetoric.

24. LOL.
Of course, we can speculate about how Obama might do anything.

All wins bring out those who jump on band wagons.

Obama may have taken huge hits, the question is whether the roundhouse swings of Clinton are doing any damage or simply shrugged them off...available evidence says little damage is in evidence.

Sometime today we'll see what the overnights yield about last nights performances at the Philly Q&A. Several more of the pollers are putting up daily tracking now that the primary is within a week.

41. She has the potential to gain a lot of momentum in the next few months
There are a number of contests coming up that offer little to no advantage to Obama. In several of them, she enjoys the advantage. There are a few contests that Obama will win and win big probabaly (NC and HI most notably and NE probably) but it looks very possible that she has a better chance to pick up the momentum leading into the convention than Obama. It also looks like she can whittle his deleagte lead down from a strong argument to a weak talking point and, if nothing else, it will attenuate the arguments for her to drop out before the convention. All in all, she's looking strong and showing remarkable endurance while Obama is looking like the body blows are wearing him down despite his money advantage.

43. I disagree with you
And Hawaii is already decided, by the way.

Clinton has to win any state by a GREAT margin in order to pick up enough delegates to matter. Even in PA, I'm not sure she'll win by a large enough margin to gain more than a 6 or 7 delegate net. Then Obama is set to win NC and maybe even Indiana. I don't see the enormous leads in these states for Clinton to gain significant advantages.

And, also, look to the money. If she doesn't increase her campaign warchest in the very near future her donors will dry up completely and that will hurt her more than losing delegates.

47. Of course you do.
And Hawaii is already decided, by the way.

I guess it's the Republican convention in May in HI. I was confused. That's good though. I'm pleased. That improves her chances even more.

Clinton has to win any state by a GREAT margin in order to pick up enough delegates to matter.
She can win big in IN and KY and, potentially, PA. The rules say that you need 2024 to win outright. They don't say you win outright because you had 20 more delegates than your opponant. As I said, she ca whittle his argument down to a weak talking point which, when placed beside some of her arguments, begins to look legitimately pathetic.

And, also, look to the money.
We'll see what happens.

in PA.

I didn't watch the so-called debate, but perhaps it might have been better if ABC had hired Geraldo to do the MC'ing. He couldn't have done any worse.

As to this being over by June 3rd, Texas doesn't elect it's final delegates until June 7th. At this time, we do not know who won Texas.

Another point to ponder is that there are no caucuses in the GE.

59. There is no reasonable excuse for being in the church with Wright for 20 years
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 08:54 AM by igor2008
Barrack has had a total pass by all media since his race speech.

Not once has anyone asked him why he remained in the church for 20 years, because there is simply no reasonable response that he can give. Once the question is asked, whatever the response, his whole image as a Uniter and Change agent folds, and subsequently his campaign too.

Barrack either loses now, or in the GE.

80. You all act like the first service Obama went to was full of hate
but remember the service that has caused all this controversy, happened the Sunday after 9-11. That was still a while ago, but NOT 20 YEARS AGO. Stop the spinning. What about the church Hillary goes to? They believe they are put in political power because that is God's will, and their purpose is to rule the people injecting their religion into our society. Sounds a bit like BushFaith to me.

63. You're buying into the contrived media drama
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 09:01 AM by TragedyandHope
Obama and his campaign have simply connected with more voters across the country and he has an unquestionable, firm lead. Period.

The media has seen their ratings go through the roof when they portray this as an epic, neck-and-neck horse race. They have completely separated from reality and are milking the situation for all they can. Of course, they also have plenty of their own personal and corporate political motivations for this distorted portrayal of the race.

At this point, Hillary has a slim to none chance of getting the nomination and her chances are decreasing with each contest, despite all the talk about the so-called "momentum" swings of the respective campaigns. Frankly, the party leadership and the Super-Delegates are politicians and they see which way the wind is blowing. This only solidifies Obama's position.

Yes, Hillary has made a strong, second-place effort, but the people have have spoken and they have made a clear and overwhelming choice for Obama.

82. Keep wishing.
Obama took fire from four different directions last night, including some incredibly classless comments by Hillary, and still came out of it with no serious damage.

She's lost. You need to accept that. There isn't going to be a magical turnaround and ray of light from the heavens.

he's going to be the nominee. He got 4 superdelegates post-debate and Zogby is tied in Pennsylvania. Some people here need a dose of reality.
