Comment on Washington Post that moved me to tears
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 11:38 AM by qanda
This is one of the comments in response to Tom Shales article. This pretty much sums it up for me:

Why do we the American people allow the media to turn our opportunity to take back the power of our Government into a complete mockery? I am a single mother of 2 who is holding on by the skin of my teeth. My house has been de-valued $70,000 in the past 3 months, I have no health insurance for myself or my children and I see mine and my neighbors lives falling apart around me, and we have an opportunity to hear what the candidates offer as changes, so our lives can be better and what do we get? Pins on lapels. I was so appalled, I watched the debate with my mouth on the floor and tears in my eyes. ABC last night, positioned itself in contention with "Days of Our Lives" for soap opera drama of the year. I am so disgusted, I can't see straight.

The Media is making a mockery of the American people and the entire American political process in a petty and disgusting attempt at ratings. The media is directing the agenda at the expense of the American people and should be held accountable for this absolute nonsense. May God help the people of this country who are trying to hold on to our dignity and integrity.

1. Wow, this puts things in perspective
Last night's debate is such a mockery and shows who really is out of touch.

2. Charlie Gibson whining about capital gains was sickening...
Sadly the whining of people like him is more powersul than the tears of the struggling and suffering.

8. Gibson makes $8 million per year in salary alone... not counting perks,
stock options, speaking fees, and the like.

11. He's probably worried about his own portfolio.
When the pirates are held to account, they won't be feathering his nest as effectively, either.

3. K&R, that's right ...
they ripped of the American people by focusing on wedge issues rather than the issues that are important to all Americans.

Even if you liked seeing Obama being put on the spot by Stephanopoulos playing Hannity you were still deprived of meaningful debate by the two presidential hopefuls

4. m$nbc is now talking about the Shales' article and all the criticism
ABC has gotten. Of course, the talking head is now defending them.

10. She sounds bitter, and angry, and frustrated, as well she should be.
But Hillary's locked up the happy vote, all 14% of them (most of whom aren't Dems anyway).

The big winners last night were the corporate fucks who laugh at the American people while they rub their noses in shit.

The lasting image of last night will be Charles Gibson crying in his caviar because Obama might raise his capital gains tax.

And long may he do so!

I hope they ALL are.

EXCELLENT comment, milkyway! :yourock:

Look. It's a simple matter of kindergarten-level fair play. EVERYONE gets their turn at the graham crackers and apple juice. And when you've been served yours, you do NOT simply stand there and gorge from your little paper plate and then hold it out for seconds, and thirds, and fourths. You leave the front of the line and go sit down over there so the people who've been waiting behind you, who haven't had their turn, can move up and get some, too.

13. That was indeed my favorite part. Sure Charlie, typical working class Americans care ....
... how much you have to pay in taxes for your stock trades. What a fucking idiot.
