I Just Realized...It's Still Over
All the arguing over the debate aside, this race is still over. I thought the debate last night was a bit of a hit job but I don't think it's going to change much. Hillary will win PA by less than 10%. Obama will blow her out in NC. Most likely, we go into the convention just about where we are now, with Obama up by 120-140 delegates. All the ridiculous flag pins, and Reverand Wright and other criticisms that Camp Hillary have turned from mole hills to mountains have pretty much bounced off like water off a duck's back and Obama continues to lead in delegates and popular vote.

I'm not going to cry about the debate, because it's still over.

I'm not going to sweat camp Hillary's constant attacks because it's still over.

Unless the DNC folks hand the nomination to Hillary, no amount of debates or spin or anything else from camp Hillary is going to change the undeniable fact that Obama is going to the convention with more delegates...and that's just fine by me.

to become President.

2. I agree that there's some worry
that the DNC will end up picking Hillary anyway despite the fact that she's going to the convention behind in both delegates and popular vote. On the other hand, I hope they realize how much damage giving the finger to the popular choice of the people would do to the party (in that it will basically ensure that McCain becomes president).

God, I can see that already. McCain's campaign will point out again and again and again that he's not even running against the winner of the Democratic primary. Moderate democrats will abandon the party in droves. McCain wins 40+ states.

3. Really? I guess reports of Obama's death by strangulation were somewhat exaggerated.
I can click a thread at random and discover either that Clinton literally severed his head with a box cutter or that she was sent crying into the green room by his unshakable aplomb and karate chops. And now you're telling me that nothing much has changed because of a TV show? Imagine that.

After this long primary season, I can sympathize with DUers looking for sudden death, but do we really expect ABC to have decided anything with their incoherent "debate"? Would we really want such a lightweight event to have crystallized many voters' opinions? Is either side truly that desperate?

7. I know! When we put all the hyperbole
of this primary "season" behind us we realize we're pretty much in the same place we've been for months now. After all the camp Hillary gloating about winning Ohio and Texas (which she really lost), the scoreboard is pretty much the same. I'm sure they'll be at it again after PA, hootin' and hollerin' about the fact that Hillary won PA by 5-10%.

I was at a Houston Astro's game about three years ago and Houston was up by six or seven in the top of the 9th when a player from the other team hit a monster solo home run. A bunch of their fans out in right field stands started jeering the Astro's right fielder and after 30 seconds or so, he looked over at them, smiled, and pointed to the scoreboard.

Camp Hillary, I direct your attention to the scoreboard. You're still losing, and it's late in the game.

4. You're right, she is still going to lose & we all know it. It's just a scorched earth Clinton game.
They can't be run out of Our Party fast enough.

Hillary, Welcome to whatever level of Hell Lieberman lives on.

6. Yep, most SDs are smart enough to vote along with the voters who elcted them...
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 12:43 PM by barack the house
It is a little unfair on them to put the decision in their hands though, it is burden for them really. But what can we do. I mean imagine in their shoes with the volitile voters either side and them in the middle feel sorry for them really. Superdelegates are mostly to pat the already decided nominee on the back really. In the 80s the superdelegates overturned the vote Mondale/Ferraro and in the GE they won just 1 state.

8. There is exactly one chance for Clinton to become president
That is for McCain to beat Obama in the General and screw up the country for four more years. By that time the Clinton years will look like a golden age for our country and people will be desperate for a return to it. She knows that and is working as hard as she can for McCain.

13. we keep donating.
Speaks louder than anything we can shout on a message board.

Obama's DONORS will keep him in front with Dean and the supers.

and the MSM secretly wants all that money too.

Obama/McCain will make more money for the networks than Clinton/McCain.

17. If he's the nominee, it's over for the party. McCain wins

and the Dems are fractured.

Thanks, Barack. :sarcasm:

so what you're doing is spreading right-wing propaganda in order to boost support for Hillary.

20. Been over for a while. She can play out all the histrionics she wants,
and it's still over.

She's not very good at taking hints. Hopefully a Democrat will run against her for her senate seat and we can be rid of her forever.

When he spoke of enemy pilots flying their planes directly into terra firma......

I hope she rides this thing all the way back to Arkansas.
