Obama: Clinton PA Supporters Switching Sides Today
Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 12:20 PM by FLDem5
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/17/9359/02959/833/497491

Sorry about the quick-fire diary, but according to Halperin:

The Obama campaign tells Stephanopoulos that "prominent Pennsylvania supporters" will switch their support from Clinton to Obama Thursday morning due to Clinton’s negativity.

unertl's diary :: ::

First, the traditional media is turning its back on George Stephanpoulos and Charlie Gibson for its horrible performance. Even Clinton supporter Ed Rendell was disappointed with the debate. Then this morning, Obama picks up another superdelegate endorsement from Oklahoma. Now, Clinton supporters are coming out to denounce AND reject her for being a Republican in Democratic clothing.

Am I missing anything else?

Let the backlash continue! Pennsylvania, you can end this on Tuesday.

Update from Halperin:

Obama campaign to hold 12:30 pm ET media call with Clinton Pennsylvania supporters who are switching their support to Obama due to the "recent wave of negativity."

Head over there to check out the many links in the Diary.

On edit: I am taking "prominent" out of the headline because if it is what Ben Smith has up, its regular voters, not SDs.

32. I said this yesterday, in the midst of that horrible Obama thread.
It's not even about getting Hillary nominated any more. Now it's all about damage and payback.

They know the show's over, and all they want to do is bust up shit before they're thrown out of the building.

43. you sound like a person that's busted up some shit before getting thrown out of the building
I like that in a person

but when the building is America and the World?

Well it looks like Clinton's going to get the old "86" eh?

not a minute too soon...

I remember at the Blue Moon in Seattle there was a BIG UGLY, 265 lb guy, going around picking on people, trying to start fights...

A little lady led the charge and got right up in his face... and 25 gentle hippies, picked him almost physically UP, and floated him out of the building... not a soul was injured

everyone applauded

50. I've been there.
Heh. Ramones @ the Palladium on 14th St. in NYC, January of '78...

Not exactly busting shit up - but the Palladium set up chairs on the dance floor for the show, and the crowd was having NONE of it. Within 2 songs, the chairs were in a pile to the side of the stage, and the crowd was off.

I've seen my share of ugly at concerts in my time, though. CBGB, as much as I loved the place, was not always sweetness and light. When you throw in Brooklyn tough guys and Hell's Angels and a tightly-packed room full of punk fans and beer, something is bound to happen, and it usually did.

Good times, good times... I miss that joint. but I digress.

after all how dare someone with a better approach, who horror of horrors actually wants to address the conditions the country faces rather than continue in useless combat with the other party.

I swear Obama is such a breath of fresh air in the stench that has become politics in this nation.

48. Revenge & Vitriol.. Hillary's Biggest Hits..coming soon to your nearest music store
Get your CDs before they run out,..

The HRC crowd is the "if she can't have it, NO ONE can" club..

The utterly sad thing is that for many of them it's because she's A woman....

That same kind of thinking is what drove Chinese people to actually drown female babies.. (there are millions of young Chinese guys now who dearly wish they hadn;t done that.. they cannot find wives)

A "preferred" sex is NO way to vote..and people who do NOT vote that way are NOT sexist..

The woman has too much baggage and we are sick of the Clintons...like the Bushes..and we want ALL of them to just GO AWAY...

14. It's a natural progression of events that shouldn't surprise ClintonCo but does.
Her campaign has been run on hubris and negativity. She is running a 2000/2004 campaign. I guess she didn't pick up the red clue phone that would have advised her it was 2008 and that Barack has changed the paradigm of politics as we have known it.

unhip? Actually, from having her as a Senator in 2002 when she voted for the IWR, without reading the 90 page NIE,.. after we called her office and emailed by the thousands to becheech her to vote NO was when a lot of us first realized she was in her own bubble, oblivious to the people.

I saw him just a few days ago on Colbert and he gave one of the best statements of support for Hillary Clinton that I've ever heard from one of her supporters. To flip from that overnight (or even in just a couple of days) to supporting Obama just doesn't seem likely.

to them for 2-3 days after the reporting deadline (because of the size of the reports). What happens between April 20th and 2-3 days after April 20th? x(

I'm sure we'll know if she paid her bills right AFTER the PA primary.

54. Even Pat Buchanan last night on MSNBC...
...was asked about Obama being the Teflon candidate. Buchanan said that he didn't believe that was true, and that it was the fact that OBama is a genuinely nice guy who is trying very hard to keep the campaign out of sound-byte cheap-shots, and that is why the negatives weren't sticking.

Buchanan has seemed to be more pro-Hillary, IMO, in the past, so this was a big surprise to me.

I don't agree with many of Buchanan's policy positions, but I think he has integrity. He is an excellent interviewer, comes to the table prepared, doesn't interrupt his guests, and asks really good questions. As a pundit, his answers are usually thoughtful and insightful. He has a keen sense of fair play, IMO, and I think that 3-on-1 hit job on Obama last night may have swung Buchanan over to Obama. Buchanan really didn't like the fact that Staphylococcolus was carrying water for Clinton and used a Hannity question.

As I said, I don't agree with most of his policies, but I do respect his integrity.

45. Interesting end game chess if Obama knew this pre-debate
Think Obama maintaining less negativity as prime game plan? If knowing these switches were happening, a bigger campaign strategy plus than piling on Clinton for issues many viewers may know. Those few that didn't might not have been worth the bigger gain.
