to think that the 1990s could be repeated. Like the 1950s, they were a unique period in time--not to be repeated, only palely imitated. The social dynamics are not the same--even the same old problems are different in their scope and intensity. The world has changed drastically. The nation needs more than a bandaid to cover a scratch. There have been gaping wounds inflicted. Continuing to whip its body with the same old partisan lashes does not help it heal but only creates new wounds. A balm is needed. The drama of the extreme needs to subside. We need to move on.
2. The whole dynasty thing has always bothered me...
...George W Bush is the only person who would have invaded Iraq - surrounding himself with people who wanted to invade Iraq and they did it because they wanted to "finish the job". Having a president that has may be tempted to defend a previous president that they are related to is dangerous. I don't care what party or how well intentioned.
