ABC says -- "Debate talk of the town. Not good for Obama"
Dear Lord, I can't believe this. ABC's coverage is regurgitating WrightGate soundbytes, making Obama sound bitter about it being 45 minutes before the issues came up.

"Some people angry, but many thought it was good preparation for the GE".

They are mocking MoveOn.org for wanting to "send a message to ABC".

Gibson is encouraging people to comment on the website as they "appreciate all comments".

They are positively shameless.

11. I honestly believe that Barack Obama was figuratively AMBUSHED.
This was a "set-up" and everyone there was "read on" to include the lighting for Wes Clark, Ed Rendell, and Chelsea Clinton in the audience. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if HRC had the questions given to her the day before. I honestly don't hold ANYTHING past the potential for *evil* that is within "The Clintons" and their smarmy campaign.

Someone mentioned on the radio that it reminded them figuratively of the teen who walked into that home in FL only to be *jumped* by 7 other teens.

HRC and ABC *jumped* Obama. :grr:

Also, in one of the shots, Rendell was sitting next to her, and I think Wes Clark was there, but I'm not totally sure.

Although one high point was when the normally subdued audience almost exploded into applause when Obama mentioned Bill Clinton commuting the sentences of two Weather Underground members.

I don't see to many people talking about that point of view.
This debate is about the American People and their decision they will face in November, for them to use that debate to give an obvious advantage and one way slant is disgusting. I won't be trusting their journalism, nor will I be watching any debates ABC would happen to have in the GE.

Certainly the coverage Obama has received from MSNBC (Keith) has not done him any favors. He's been handled with kid gloves. I don't trust their biased "entertainment". It's probably best to focus on your candidate and how they handled themselves. Blaming the MSM doesn't really have much to do with choosing a candidate.

2. these were questions that were gemaine to electability and are part of the vetting process. How well they answered these questions is a very good indicator of how well they will answer them in a few months.

I take issue with the fact that 52 minutes was wasted on CRAP. I have been phone banking in my state (PA) and the reason we have such high undecideds (upwards of 20% in some polls) is because people were holding out to hear the issues discussed last night.

Tonight should be interesting as we start calling down to them all again.

Walter Cronkite - Gives oath to Satan,(no joke, he says it) then Hillary Clinton congratulates him from video conferance shown on screen in room.

60. Get ready for the vote rigging. ABC is trying provide perception.
When they say it isn't good for Obama... they are trying to give ample reasoning for why they can rig the vote for Clinton. Typical. Don't get fooled by this game. The media is trying to lull everyone into that sound reasoning. "Obama did poorly and that's why he lost by 15 points". I see the scenario coming. "Bitter-gate had an affect". All of this is for Clinton.

This PA primary is bought and paid for by the Clintons. Penn's company, in cahoots with McCain and Black are in on it along with Rendell and the rest of the machine.

They have to provide adequate reasoning for them to get away with this.

Think Ohio in 2004 wasn't rigged for Bush, guess again.

PA Your vote is being undermined as we speak.

Obama understands this. Bitter gate was a rouse-reasoning by the machine and they fed it to the media. He doesn't expect to win PA. He doesn't want to get blown out.

62. ABC broke the golden rule of journalism and made themselves the
story. They've hurt themselves more than they've hurt Obama.

64. Jim Geraghty thinks Obama should have thrown in the towel
after the first 45 minutes, saying he looked "terrible" and was damaged by his answers to Reverend Wright and William Ayers questions.
Chuck Todd believes Obama was pummeled by both Clinton and the ABC moderators, getting rattled early on and never recovering.
Andrew Sullivan calls it Obama's "worst performance on national television," that he was "wilting, painfully" under a "series of attacks on his integrity, faith, patriotism, decency and honesty."
John Dickerson also notes the difficulties Obama had responding to his associations with Reverend Wright and William Ayers, saying, "It's hard to be full of hope when you're justifying your relationship — however tenuous — to domestic terrorists."
Hugh Hewitt says Obama was apologetic and constantly on the defensive, even though the moderators didn't "press him beyond a follow-up or two" on Wright and Ayers.
David Brooks gives Clinton a B and Obama a D+,

I honestly believe the Democratic leadership would rather lose this election then ever allow HRC to be the nominee. The leadership has an antipathy towards HRC and Bill, and would rather lose then win.

69. I've started this process
by removing "Grey's Anatomy" and "Men in Trees" from my DVR season record list.

No more ABC in any shape, form or fashion.

Now if we could get to where when we order cable service we can actually PICK the channel lineup, we would be in business. For example, I would not PAY FOR Fox News or ABC, etc.

I intend to send the Disney movies in my collection back to Disney in protest as well.

78. The problem isn't what Obama said, it's what the moderators asked and
did not ask. They shortchanged the American People as a whole, not just Obama supporters.

You may believe they served Hillary Clinton well but I don't, because they never asked her or Obama substantive questions about the critical issues of the day during this precious prime time abuse of the American People's time.

We all lost from that debate, not just Obama and his supporters.

80. No, I don't think that they served Hillary well.
On the other hand, the questions they asked are the same ones I've been hearing in PA while campaigning for Hillary. Plenty of people have mentioned Rev. Wright, their belief that he's Muslim, and the "bitter" remarks this past weekend went around like wildfire. The only issue no one asked about was Ayres.

So, despite what the left wing and the media think, these ARE concerns of the average working class folk.

Obviously it's not their main concern, that is definitely the economy and then the war. But, people choose a president as much on gut feeling as on their record, and the white blue collar workers view Obama with suspicion.

Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 12:21 PM by Uncle Joe
with the selection of 2000, the disenfranchisement of the American People's votes from being counted, scandal followed by scandal, a war based on lies exploding the debt while melting the dollar, gas and food going through the roof while increasing numbers of people are thrown out of work as jobs are shipped over seas, CEO pay going to over 300 times that of the average worker from 26 times, how can the people not be bitter? These are the concerns of the working people I know.

Obama has spoken at length about Wright and his Christianity and flag lapel pins; how Soviet Union is that question?

Regarding Ayres, isn't he a Professor of English now and wasn't he pardoned by a previous President?

I would think the increasingly apparent looming catastrophe of global warming climate change would at least merit attention from the moderators and that was totally ignored.

I also believe the American People are waking up to the fact that the last adjective one should use to describe the corporate media is left wing. Didn't Stephanopolous work for Clinton's husband, do you believe there is a conflict of interest in that?

It seemed to me the biggest concern with Gibson and Stephanopolous was making sure people making at least over 100,000 and possibly closer to 200,000 didn't receive a tax increase to cover the exploding debt and melting dollar. I don't how it is in PA, but here in Tennessee people making that kind of money would hardly be average working class folk.

82. Congratulating A Piss Poor Performance
by MSM by democrats. :puke: Now I've see everything.

For 8 years we've been railing against the media-whores of the MSM and the way they've treated Bush and cheer leaded us into a war.

How sad Hill supporters are willing to sell out to a media who is against democracy, happy to dumb down America on a daily basis and obsess on ridiculous arguments like flag pins. If Wednesday wasn't a perfect example of dumbing down, and you don't see that, I feel sorry for you.

94. just something to think about....
I recall that Hillary's "negative" rating was 47% before she entered the race, and is 60% now. Don't you wonder how it came to be that so many people view her unfavorably, or even just hate her?

You can thank your new pal ABC for their past contributions. They are a part of the whole POS media slime machine, which is a big part of what is wrong with our country. If Hillary won the nom they would trash her as thoroughly as they have done every Democrat who has reached that level for many years.

81. They Meaning ABC???
sounds like they are on the defensive/offensive - not everyday when a network receives 17,000 e-mails and 10,000 angry posts on website.

These people live and work in a bubble. They pat each other on the back umpteen times per day congratulation each other on the most menial things. Aren't we great, bad publicity is better than no publicity is a big one in broadcasting. 10 million viewers - champaign all around.

I didn't get the impression on the news cast that they were mocking moveon. By inviting more comments, is sending the message that "they care" - trust me, they don't give a shit!

she's a corporate insider just like McCain and they feel safe with either of them. The last thing they want is some elitist (read uppity) black guy in the White House who's not on their team.
