OH THE IRONY! Flag pin lady has a husband on disability, tons of medical debt. . .
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 08:10 AM by wndycty
. . .borrows money from her 70 year old parents and she cares about a FUCKING FLAG PIN?

Again, her flag pin question reinforces what Obama said in San Francisco I said this in a thread last night when it was exposed that the was previously quoted in a NEW YORK TIMES article that was referenced on DU last night.

She has a ton of potential issues to be concerned about, but she cares about FUCKING FLAG PIN? Replay what Obama said in San Francisco and tell me what he said that was wrong. Hopefully folks won't only look to the McCabe question as a reason to question the press, but they will also look at the McCabe question as proof that what Obama said in San Francisco was right.

Unemployed, husband on disability, medical debt and she cares about whether or no Obama wears a FUCKING FLAG PIN?

SOMEONE, ANYONE, TELL ME HOW A FUCKING FLAG PIN will get this woman a job, get her husband off of disability, pay off her medical debt?

Why woman who grilled Obama finds him annoying

But to understand why Obama rubs McCabe wrong is to go beyond the question of what a flag pin has to do with patriotism - it's not really about the flag pin, she said in a telephone interview Thursday - and consider McCabe's life. It's no Hawaiian prep school and Ivy League story, unlike Obama's. It's a slice of working-class Pennsylvania, the core of Hillary Clinton's support there.

McCabe met her husband, Lloyd, in April 1983 at a dance. They married two months later. Six months after that, she says, he was injured in a coal mine accident. He hasn't worked since.

They never had children. He had back surgery. The muscle relaxers he took damaged his heart. He's had three bypasses, nine angioplasties, seven stents and a pacemaker. Three months ago doctors found a brain tumor. His choice: surgery that he may or may not survive, or life in a wheelchair.

Over 25 years of marriage, McCabe was the breadwinner. She said it took eight years to get her husband disability payments, during which time they racked up huge bills.

Her house is burning down, she's worried about the paint job, and she criticizes Obama when he comes around with the fire hose.

Of course the RW media only asks her about the paint job.

whether or not Obama wears a fucking flag pin? By the way, he went to the Hawaiian "prep" school on scholarship, having come from a household where food stamps were used. I'm sorry this woman has had such a miserable life, but don't blame it on Obama not wearing a damn flag pin. I'm betting she's a George Bush supporter, anyway.

11. Believe it or not but there are many like this woman out there
that have it bad yet fail to realize the cause of their hardship and the unknown is so scary to them they focus on the non sense instead of taking a look at what the cause of their woes are. Lets face it, as bad as the repuke party has been and the history of the pukes social injustices performed to benefit those at the top, these people fear so many things they can't see whats in their face. Since 1968 pukes have labaled the dem's as commies, hippies, soft on crime, bleeding heart liberals that want to destroy america by restricting big business. Job loss isn't from corporate greed, cheap labor over sea's or any of the known reasons of the thinking man, nope its because the damn EPA and OSHA laws that the dems put into place, never mind that EPA was started by Nixon, ( remember these people have limited thought process and a complete lack of memory of recent history, hell they forget one story when a new one pops up )the dems restrict big business from profits they so richly deserve. They actually believe that their vote for a puke somehow entitles them from any and all puke doings that cause their problems so they are facing hardships because of a dem gov or congressman. This is the type of thinking we are up against, Reagan said that was so and you can't shake their belief Reagan was a man of the little people. It boggles the mind.

14. Is there any chance, any at all..
that the hospital can do a two-for-one deal on the brain surgery. What a fucking dope she is.

From the linked McClatchy article:

She admits that she's more likely to give Clinton the benefit of the doubt while looking for fault in Obama. For example, McCabe says that she once saw Obama on television and noticed that "he turned his back on the flag" before the Pledge of Allegiance ended. That irritated her to no end.

Lloyd McCabe's brain surgery is set for next week, two days after the Pennsylvania primary. Still, says his wife, "We're going to try to vote. I do not want to miss my vote."

I wasn't "attacking the woman" since she'll never hear my comments. My question spoke more to the general case of someone in such dire circumstances putting such weight in the wearing of a flag pin. Your off-target attack, and then refusal to address the actual question demonstrates a reactionary, closed mind.

Thanks for playing; maybe next time you'll manage some courtesy and courage. Rub that flag pin some, mebbe it'll help.

52. The true irony is that we have *3 candidates* who espouse roughly the same economic policy
Irony is like a swiss-army knife: it cuts a lot of different ways.

Did it ever occur to you that it is ironic that the mainstream political discourse doesn't include one candidate (out of three currently standing) that doesn't support globalism/offshoring/"free trade"/H1B visas/etc.?

Castigating a poor woman for not steering the debate toward poverty or the economy when neither of the candidates wants to talk about these issues also ironic, to say the least!

39. Exactly. Having so little prospect of overcoming the big problems, people will
try to do something about the things they think they can affect.

However, this is an issue that Senator Obama has made an issue. This is a battleground he had chosen. He cannot resent (nor should his supporters) questions about this, because he is the one that made this an issue. He wants these questions because it gives him another opportunity to answer the question.

And everytime you judge Senator Obama by his wearing a flag pin or not, you are judging him by his appearance and NOT the content of his character.

People, we need to stop demanding that Barack Obama put his lapel to the awl of the door.

Someone has to be the scape goat when life is harsh and uncaring...typically this means people who "are not like you" and who are also competing for the meager resources available to the affected person.

Obama would never get her vote anyway, and if he does become President and improves her life in some way...she won't recognize it.

69. Just calling it like it really is. This lady uses the flag pin argument as a crutch.
Flag pin becomes a useful surrogate for her deeper issues.

71. Basis? Basis? Are You For Real?
Do you not live in the USA? You don't understand race in this country? You don't understand why racism exists? The poster has an extremely valid and cogent point, people resort to racism as a means to explain, excuse, deny, obfuscate, WTF you want to call it THEIR OWN INTERNAL DISSATISFACTION. If you can't understand that very basic premise there is no use talking to you.

Another shit heel for the ignore bin. BTW Fuck You for being an asshole, I've been reading some of your crap here for the past few weeks and you suck.

76. Well considering Obama is the only one taking heat for it when there are tons of pics . . .
. . .of all the other candidates without the pin then one is correct in assuming bigotry.

84. I don't see her screaming at Hillary for not wearing a flag pin...so what else is her basis?
Hillary doesn't own a flag pin factory and hardly wears one, so upon what basis are we to believe that this woman singles out the black candidate for the flag pin bullshit? She's a pissed (rightfully so) old woman with a sad story, but the sadder story is her inability to understand that Obama would likely be of greater benefit to her than Clinton. This woman is EXACTLY the type that uses surrogate issues to vent about how shitty her life is...rather than voting in a manner that would actually improve her life. She is mallable, suggestive, and ultimately lost to the Repuke/MSM message machine.

It's really easy to call someone who disagrees with you a "bigot". But I haven't said anything bigoted on this thread or anywhere else--I merely object to saying someone is "probably" a racist.

37. Many people base their vote on issues that are considered inconsequential by others.
You may think that her question was trivial, but I've seen posters on this board claim that they have determined their support for a candidate or switched support from one candidate to the other for reasons that I consider just as trivial.

51. without saying it
she is trying to point out she feels Obama is, (to her anyway), an "Uppity black guy" She did not get a Harvard education, she did not go to school in Hawaii. She feels bitter not because she relegates herself to her own situation but because Obama may become President.

her racism runs deep, she cannot compete with other whites. so add the black population to the mix and she cannot compete at all.

I am convinced she is retarded. a republican stooge. they do not care about her, so we Democrats are supposed to?

A GOD DAMN, FUCKING MADE IN CHINA, FLAG PIN is her issue???????????????????? WTF :wtf: :argh:

Give me a break. Clinton has "earned the right" to be president? No, that's not how it works. I wouldn't want to be in this woman's shoes, but her hatred for Obama makes no sense.
