Tell ABC News to fire Stephanopoulos, and that other guy
Contact ABC directly and ask for the firing of Stephanopoulos. That fact that a former Clinton advisor was moderating the debate, and he was taking question from Sean Hannity, should tell you how “journalistic” this “debate” was. Perhaps next time they could have Samantha Power, disgraced “monster” advisor, moderate the debate.

Contact ABC with suggestions:
http://abcnews.go.com/Site/page?id=3052660

Give news feedback:
http://abc.go.com/site/contactus.html

Contact your local affiliate:
http://abc.go.com/site/az_ar.html

Obama should accept another debate only if they fire Stephanopoulos. Otherwise, why bother?

3. How about for the next debate with McCain
we have questions composed by Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, Amy Goodman, Glenn Greenwald, Will Pitt, and a few others.

Somehow, I don't think it will happen.

4. I mailed this letter with a flag pin in the envelope...
Dear Sirs:

I tuned into the Democratic Presidential debate aired by your network on Wednesday night. I am writing to you to express my bewilderment at the tenor of the debate and the focus on distractions and tabloid trash for nearly a full hour before one substantive issue was addressed.

We are at war. In fact, we are currently engaged in TWO wars. Healthcare is nonexistent or terribly inadequate for millions of our fellow citizens, our dollar is crashing, foreclosures are skyrocketing. Have you bought groceries lately? Have you filled up you car? There are very real and serious problems facing our country and, I swear I nearly fell out of my chair, your moderators asked about a flag lapel pin?

It was beyond maddening. It was embarrassing. It made me angry and sad at the same time. Angry at the waste of an opportunity to highlight where these two capable people stand on issues of substance and sad that your once-proud network has sunk to the depths of Entertainment Tonight.

I long for the days when debates were conducted by the League of Women Voters. They weren’t out to get ratings. Instead they asked pertinent questions that mattered to voters. What a novel idea.

Sincerely,

5. They will not be fired because the decision was made from the top
Edited on Fri Apr-18-08 10:47 AM by wowimthere
The entire network is shilling for Clinton. They are Disney... the one who wouldn't allow Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 to be released under their company name.

Clinton has essentially bought her candidacy. "Corporation" is backing her candidacy.

14. How about Stephanopoulos as a scape goat then?
I am certain, like you said, that it was top down. I would except a scape goat for now.

10. If you think Stephanopoulos was fair and balanced, you should stick to Fox News
Your comment is irrelevant. The moderators didn't address any issues (for 45 minutes at least) and asked trivial questions about lapel pins. They mostly targeted Obama.

11. eh, he sucks but I don't think he should be fired.
I don't think he should be fired per se, he has been tough on Clinton in the past. Isn't that where the "garnishing wages" quote she had came from?

Um, is MCCAIN SERIOUSLY GOING TO BE ON GEORGE'S SHOW THIS SUNDAY??!!

He better ask him some tough questions.

12. To be honest i liked the last back-to-back debate abc ran...
that moment with all the candidates for president on stage from both parties at the same time was cool. I dont know what they were thinking with this one. Maybe its harder to plan these things with only two candidates, i dont know.

Why would they be fired?

15. No, I won't
I have written to a lot of media criticizing the conduct of the ABC debate, but getting journalists fired is not something I believe we should be about doing. This is not good for Obama, imo. Clinton's actions against media have earned her some enmity for what they see as extreme pressure. This falls into the same category. It will do Obama no good. My opinion.

22. I said fire Stephanopoulos
not a journalist. He is not a journalist.

Yes, it won't happen. However, the moderators and journalist should be made accountable if they can be.

21. You made the comment, now back it up!
Why should we get rid of Russert and Olbermann? Just making the statement proves nothing. Give us some reasons or don't bother with a comment in the first place. Yes, you have free speech, learn to use it.
