45. Bill ROLLED OVER because he was TOO BIG A COWARD To fight for gays on that issue.
Kerry testified in front of congress that gays should serve openly in the military and had to wear a bulletproof vest for some time after.

Just like he did on all those years of hard investigatory work to uncover the crimes of BushInc, Bill took Kerry's risk and efforts for gays in the military and cowardly protected and validated BushInc and the RW thugs.

57. Bullshit. Sam Nunn stabbed Clinton and the Democrats in the back.
The true story is that Clinton tried to overturn the ban on gays in the military through executive order, and Sam Nunn announced that if he did, Nunn would lead Congress to ban gays in the military altogether. He had the votes easily to override any Clinton veto, thanks to the Republicans and Sam Nunn's southern Democrats.

"Don't ask, don't tell" was the only way Clinton had left to prevent a federal law banning gays serving in the military outright. It sucked, but it was the only thing left.

Sam Nunn is a homophobic piece of crap, amongst other things. I sincerely hope Obama isn't embracing him. If so, Obama supporters can shut the hell about Richard Melon Scaife endorsing Clinton. Sam Nunn is just as bad.

Dems' support has REGRESSED BECAUSE Bill's willingness to ROLLOVER for the Bush agenda and the powerful ASSURED that the Dems would never win the battles on these issues.

Ever REALIZE that HAD Bill done the RIGHT THING and allowed the fuller revelations of BushInc's crimes of office that there would never have been a STRONG push back from the GOP and centrist Dems and no GOP takeover of congress and Dems would have the STRENGTH of numbers and MORAL AUTHORITY to GOVERN in the 90s instead of being usurped by the RW agenda who had a Dem president bending to THEM?

70. Again, complete bullshit. You stab your allies in the back, you lose your allies.
You've got some fantasy based on internet rumors alone that Bush could have been prosecuted for something. Bush and Reagan had more investigations of them than any other president/VP team in our history, and there was not enough evidence to prosecute a goddamned thing, especially after Bush pardoned all the Iran/Contra figures who could have been forced to testify against him. There was no secret knowledge Clinton had that would have but BushCo in jail.

Clinton didn't roll over, he performed miracles for our side considering what he had to work with, and if you don't understand how much he accomplished, then you don't understand government, politics, America, liberalism, or any other goddamn thing. That goofy-assed fantasy that he could prosecuted Bush and won some sense of approval from the public and used that approval to force America to do what it refused to do is delusional. It causes harm, and does NOTHING to help us.

I used to think the Republicans were the enemy. Now I get it. Liberals and progressives fail because too damn many of them are too fucking stupid to understand when they are winning. They want people who tell them they are pretty rather than people who get things done. We deserve Obama, because we like crying about what we didn't get more than actually getting as much as we want. If he loses we can cry, if he wins we can scream "BETRAYAL!" when he governs like his voting record.

Clinton accomplished more for liberals than anyone since LBJ, and before that, FDR. And he did it without getting us into another Viet Nam, even though he was being pressured to. Smoke that for a while.

73. You have TOTALLY FORGOTTEN about the release of BCCI report in Dec 1992 that REQUESTED
further scrutiny and documents - BILL WOULD NOT DO IT.

YOU are the one hanging your hat on all the excuses to AVOID the basic truths that Bill COVERED UP for GHWBush AND his benefactor Jackson Stephens.

You think Dubai and Saudi royals are paying him by the tens of millions for a few deals he's helping with NOW? HAHAH. They are paying him off for all those years of protecting THEIR asses, too, on BCCI.

And besides, the CIA drugrunning report that came out in 1996 should have RE-OPENED IranContra, but Bill wasn't cooperating much on that, eother, was he?

So YOU stick with the privileged and their secrecy, THAT is the side you excuse and defend - and you needn't disrupt YOUR fantasy world to accept the duties of citizenship.

I will stick with Open Government that sides with the citizenry in their duty to PROTECT our right to accountability.

Sebelius, Napolitano, and Nunn are all allied with the DLC but are strong Obama supporters.

I know Nunn is a conservative Democrat, but most Georgia Democrats are conservative Democrats.

I'd give anything to go back to the time when Georgia was the most progressive Southern Democratic state. We are now a Republican controlled state sliding backwards into the past while our economy, our environemnt and our school system suffers.

Nunn's endorsement will help Obama in Georgia and other Southern states.

edit: My support for Nunn's Obama endorsement does not mean that I support Nunn's homophobic views.

Nunn and Boren were the main players in the bi-partisan group that was supposed to prop up Bloomberg. or so the political gossip went. They were the main organizaers of the a meeting in Oklahoma last december. Among other participants, off the top of my head, Bloomberg (of course), Gary Hart, Hagel, Susan Eisenhower (emforsed Obama a while back), Bill Cohen, etc.

Edited to add: "Nunn and Boren have accepted Senator Obama’s invitation to serve as advisers to his National Security Foreign Policy Team. ". That's pretty damn good in terms in national security credentials. http://thepage.time.com/endorsement-statements-of-former-sens-nunn-boren-for-obama-2/

52. I remember nasty comments on Nunn on DU
back in 2004 when we were considering who would be Kerry running mate.

But, hey, as long as he says the "right" things, right?
:sarcasm:

68. But that's soooo 2004
So many things have changed since then, you know.

I don't think the Nunn endorsement reflects poorly on Obama, but I wouldn't exactly be proud of it I were him or one of his supporters.

66. Mark Ambinder Does Not Represent the Atlantic
He represents his neocon self.

David Brooks wants Nunn to be Obama's VP choice......let's hope Obama is listening and rules out Nunn immediately.
