Ayers

BIO
John Ridley: Obama's Ayers IssueJeremiah Wright nontroversy? Not a problem. Bitter clingy blue collar types, flag lapel pins? He can navigate those annoyances with ease. But come November the Bill Ayers issue rushing up in Barack Obama's rear view mirror could be a real political problem. In Wednesday's debate Sen. Clinton gave a preview of what to expect from conservatives should Obama take the nomination: accusations that Obama's cozy with radical liberals. What someone did forty years ago should not damn them forever. But that's assuming the offending individual pays their debt to society and repents. Ayers has done neither.

1. GROW UP!!! GET THE FACTS!
From the editorial page of today's Chicago Tribune, a conservative paper:

"Obama knows Ayers, a former radical and member of the Weather Underground who is now an academic in Chicago. They met years ago. They served together on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago, which provides money for anti-poverty efforts.

Ah, we know Bill Ayers too. And his wife, Bernardine Dohrn. If you know people in Chicago academic circles, chances are you know Ayers and Dohrn. They have not been repentant about their days in the radical, anti-war movement in the 1960s and their time fleeing federal authorities. They should be. There is still time for them to be.

But they have done good work in Chicago"Ayers at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Dohrn at Northwestern University Law School"s Children and Family Justice Center. So we"re going to side with Mayor Richard M. Daley on this one.

"There are a lot of reasons that Americans are angry about Washington politics. And one more example is the way Senator Obama"s opponents are playing guilt-by-association, tarring him because he happens to know Bill Ayers," Daley said Thursday. "... I don"t condone what he did 40 years ago but I remember that period well. It was a difficult time, but those days are long over. I believe we have too many challenges in Chicago and our country to keep re-fighting 40 year old battles."

Now how about getting back to the real campaign?"

I'm waiting for everyone else to catch up.

They turned a War Hero into a Traitor in 2004.

What do you think they are going to do to Obama?

Karl Rove just creamed his jeans.

Answer me this: how did his girlfriend die? (hint: she was trying to build a terrorist nail bomb).

2. Note:
Maya Angelou participated in the Million Man March, wrote a poem, doesn't condemn Farrakhan, will Hillary denounce and reject her?

This is America: Ayers was never tried and convicted of a crime.

Bill pardoned two convicted felons who were members of the Weather Underground, and they were unrepentant.

It's a good thing Jeremy Wright stood by Clinton when his pee-pee wandered.

Why are the Clintons trying to destroy the reputation of two private citizens (Ayers and Wright) and allowing them to be railroaded by the RW?

Rezko has nothing to do with Obama.

Why did Bill receive $15 million from Ron Burkle and $3 million from Vin Gupta?

What's with Bill and Mark Penn's ties to the Colombian death squad government?

6. Maya Angelou never regretted not planting more bombs.
Ayers' indictment was tossed because of FBI unconstiturional surveillance. Ayers, however, freely endorses his past actions.

Good for Bill.

Good for Clenis.

The Clintons know what a RW railroad is and they're not driving the train.

Nothing at all. I'm shocked at the allegation.

I'm too tired to google whatever non sequitur you're making.

They personally shot peasants in the head.

17. Your response is rambling nonsense. Was Ayers convicted?
It's absurd to try to claim Obama's meager links to Ayers is more disturbing than Bill's pardoning two people convicted of bombings. It's beyond ludicrous.

Making light of the Colombian trade deal, huh? How is Bill's China-connection working out with Hillary's calls to protest the Olympics?

11. feckless Republican tripe.
Of course the GOP will try and stir the pot with this - they already are, Hillary got it from the talking heads at FOX. The only reason Hillary isn't being attacked for her connections to the Weather Underground by the GOP is because nobody believe it's worth wasting their time going after a candidate that isn't going to be running in November. The sad part of this is watching Democrats bring up feckless Republican tripe like it is some sort of actual issue.

44. That's what is called a counter point to show that Hillary is just as vulnerable
to GOP BS as Obama - if not more so.

The point the OP is trying to make is that Republicans will bash Obama (what incredible news that is), the easy counter point (and on a issue like the Weather Underground it's clear as day) is that they will bash Hillary about the same thing. I was simply pointing out the obvious. And given that anybody could figure that one out - this OP really is little more than bringing up GOP talking points for the sake of bringing up GOP talking points.

Celebrating in the White House with Obama if he is elected.

Really think America is going to vote that bunch in?

If you do you are out of touch with mainstream America.

America is a nation of 300 million people. Moveon has a membership of 3 million. That is 1%, most of America does not think or vote like Moveon, Huffpo and the Daily Kos.

140 million + will be voting in November and everyone of those characters will be household names long before November.
