U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan endorses Hillary Clinton for president
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 04:29 PM by Maribelle
YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, formally announced his support for the candidacy of U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for president.

Citing her experience and economic platform, Ryan, in a press release issued Saturday, said he believes that Clinton, D-N.Y., if elected president, is in the best position to create jobs and economic growth in Northeast Ohio.

Ryan is a superdelegate, as are all the Democratic members of Congress in Ohio, so his endorsement increases Clinton’s delegate count. Ryan represents portions of Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

15. She can't win -- she knows it -- she's trying to get McCain elected
Ask anyone who is an actual political insider. Talk to anyone -- even in Clinton's camp. They'll tell you they know she can't win. So why is she continuing to run? She's only weakening Obama.

I don't like Obama particularly either -- I'm an Edwards person. But I like Obama one hell of a lot more than I do Clinton. I kow who she is. I know her background. Do you?

28. Oh, he has weaknesses ... but Hillary staying on Obama will weaken him enough for McCain to win
You'd BETTER be afraid of him. If you're not, you don't know the Bush cabal.

Look at the national polls in match-ups against McCain. Do you know what the Diebold switch percentage is?
He's within it.

And if "your girl Hill" doesn't get the hell out of the race and let us get behind one nominee, that percentage
will grow.

We're constantly hampered by these starry-eyed Clintonistas who don't even know what a real Democrat is. You've
all been fed this watery gruel and told it's "good". It only seems good in comparison with sheer starvation during
GOP times.

And now McCain is part of the "Bush Cabal?"
He, of course, is a Republican and will be defeated by our nominee, but do you remember 2000?

Congressman Tim Ryan Pledges Support For Hillary Clinton For President

Congressman Tim Ryan formally announced his support for the candidacy of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton for President today. Citing her experience and economic platform, Congressman Ryan believes that Hillary Clinton, if elected President, is in the best position to create jobs and economic growth in Northeast Ohio.

"The people of the 17th district overwhelmingly voted for Senator Clinton in the Democratic primary and today I officially pledge my support for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Throughout the 1990s, Senator Clinton working alongside President Bill Clinton had a proven record of economic growth and higher wages for America's working families," said Congressman Tim Ryan. "People in the seventeenth district of Ohio would enjoy a return to strong economic growth, millions of jobs being created and a rise in wages. I look forward to working with her to see that our community is the beneficiary of her economic policies."

17. U.S. Rep Tim Ryan: The face of the Democratic Party's future

"He's been given all the gifts to go as far as he wants to go here," says Pittsburgh-area Democratic Rep. Mike Doyle, who calls Ryan especially effective at "speaking the language of those of us who grew up in blue-collar areas."

"He's gonna get better and better and be a major player here in the years ahead," foresees Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown.

Concord Township Republican Rep. Steve LaTourette calls Ryan a "backslapper who can tell a good joke" and says he's well-liked. "He is really going to be a force to be reckoned with over the years," LaTourette predicts. "All eyes need to be on him to run for Senate in 2010. I'm sure he's destined for greater things."

The only reason people look back with fondness on the Clinton era is because it was sandwiched between

and he doesn't drink the GOP/Obama kool aid that falsely places the blame on Clinton.

He wants solutions and is smart enough to know the facts and judge best who will deliver on bringing jobs back to his district.

After all, much of his district is made up of small towns full of what Obama thinks are gun toting bigots.

55. Hillary claiming she was opposed to NAFTA is the huge lie.
A shameless and disgusting lie. And just think of how angry she was when Obama mailed a flier telling the truth about her support for NAFTA. What a fucking fake.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/20/opinion/main3955120.shtml

Now that we know from the 11,000 pages of Clinton White House documents released this week that former First Lady was an ardent advocate for NAFTA; now that we know she held at least five meetings to strategize about how to win congressional approval of the deal; now that we know she was in the thick of the manuevering to block the efforts of labor, farm, environmental and human rights groups to get a better agreement. Now that we know all of this, how should we assess the claim that Hillary's heart has always beaten to a fair-trade rhythm?

Now that we know from official records of her time as First Lady that Clinton was the featured speaker at a closed-door session where 120 women opinion leaders were hectored to pressure their congressional representatives to approve NAFTA; now that we know from ABC News reporting on the session that "her remarks were totally pro-NAFTA" and that "there was no equivocation for her support for NAFTA at the time;" now that we have these details confirmed, what should we make of Clinton's campaign claim that she was never comfortable with the militant free-trade agenda that has cost the United States hundreds of thousands of union jobs, that has idled entire industries, that has saddled this country with record trade deficits, undermined the security of working families in the US and abroad, and has forced Mexican farmers off their land into an economic refugee status that ultimately forces them to cross the Rio Grande River in search of work?

As she campaigns now, Clinton says, "I have been a critic of NAFTA from the very beginning."

But the White House records confirm that this is not true.

Her statement is, to be precise, a lie.

A young, well-spoken populist House Rep from Ohio.

He gained notoriety for his work with then House Minority Leader Pelosi's 30Something Working Group.

He, Kendrick Meek and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz made Special Order speeches from the House nearly every night after the end of regular business. They had great research, great charts, and I think they truly enjoyed each other's company.

I give them some credit for success in the mid-term elections of 2006
