Clayton, NC -- OBAMA!
So I'm at my kitchen table slogging through DU on my laptop. The doorbell rings. I ignore it like I always do (but since the window right next to the door is open, I make sure I'm not cursing out loud at the idiotic post I'm reading.)

I hear a car door close, the engine start, the car drive away.

Next time I get up, I look out the window and who do I see on my welcome mat? Obama! An Obama-blue brochure with the logo, an attractive pic of Obama (can that man even take a bad picture??) with the word CHANGE in big white letters emblazoned across the top.

This is the first piece of political literature I've received from any candidate. The only other literature I've ever found on my doorstep is from the Jehovah's Witnesses. It's informing folks that we have one-stop registration/voting from now until May 3. It gives phone numbers and his NC web address for more info and locations. It's flawless.

And it reads "Paid for by Obama for America" rather than Obama for President. Kind of gets the patriotic juices flowing. :patriot:

His entire campaign has been impressive.

I was just so excited to get it -- little 'ol me in little 'ol Clayton -- and I just had to share!

3. I blew it the times he's been here --

was only aware of a couple of appearances and they "sold out" immediately. I didn't even know he was going to be here for the others.

My fault -- I'll check his site so I can catch him next time!

I'd love to see him -- EDIT to remove my question if you'd been able to see him. Forgot you're not quite on the campaign trail! :7

12. Same thing happening to me, gateley.

Word gets around so quickly. John Conyers came near here for the Obama campaign yesterday and it was such short notice that I couldn't even go see him.

I DID vote early in the primary yesterday.

4. Yay!
Obama will have 150 campaign volunteers coming here to the Outer Banks next week. This is unheard of. Most politicians aren't even aware that anywhere east of Raleigh exists. He has an official campaign headquarters in Elizabeth City (about 60 miles west of here), and locals here on the OBX have started an unofficial Obama headquarters, complete with office space donated by a local business man. It really feels good not being ignored. :)

7. That is so cool!
Part of the reason I'm surprised is because I'm in this dinky little town.

Their presence in Clayton and going to the Outer Banks is further proof of what an outstanding campaign he's running -- and how he's inspired so many people to become involved.

13. This is why I try to reassure Clinton supporters about their ground game, if he wins the primary the
foundation is set in little towns and big cities. It will just be improved upon in the GE. Thanks for telling us about the brochure!

8. The Charlotte crew has been first rate, too.
Haven't received a door knock yet, but they had a booth today at the Earth day celebration. Only candidate represented.

9. Almost makes me want to answer the door when the doorbell rings.
But I made that mistake yesterday and it WAS Jehovaha's Witnesses. Luckily I had to be somewhere but I took their booklet and thanked them from the bottom of my heart and they said they'd be back another time.

Their newest issue of The Watchtower is great" God's Kingdom, What is it? When will it come? Apparently it will be invisible here on earth, but we'll know it's imminent because it will be foreshadowed by profound troubles here on DU.
