Ken Schram: ABC botched the debate
By Ken Schram

Wednesday's ABC presidential debate was a debacle.

I think Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos came across looking less like broadcast journalists and more like snickering TV reporters.

I don't care that they seemed to pound away at Barack Obama more than they did Hillary Clinton.
I figure if Obama can't handle the pressure of being the front runner, how can he be expected to handle the pressure of being president?

And it's not that I didn't want to see the two candidates squirm under tough questions dealing with the national economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, immigration, health care - a whole host of issues vital to the American public.

3. don't make me miss Ken Schram
I could be sailing in the San Juans instead of dying in Kansas City

Ken Scram repeating the same corporate-centrist, "in all fairness" CNN meme, is hardly nostalgia inducing

you seem like a nice person... I don't want to hate you

Stay out of Beth's cafe... it's filthy now

5. The point is that ABC is not running for president.
It does not matter how much they screwed up. What matters is whether the presidential candidates screwed up and whether they can recover. We will know in November.

7. What do you mean, it doesn't matter how much they screwed up?
This was SUPPOSED to be a debate, not a freakin' circus side show.

They claim they were asking "tough" questions, but they weren't.

They were regurgitating tabloid shit (and they did it to both candidates).

Many of us will never get the chance to attend one of their campaign stops or town hall meetings, so we have to depend on the debates.

What transpired this week was a complete embarrassment to ABC, and they should well hang their heads in shame.

6. Like saying the Titanic just tapped the Iceberg.
Obama handled it fine, granted it was not his best performance. But the debate was a disservice to both candidates. I was very disappointed Clinton joined in. I would have been impressed if she had also tried to get the debate on track, calling out the bullshit.

There are very real issues that are plaguing this nation. People are really hurting in this economy. The war is dragging on with no end in sight. Our infrastructure is falling down around our collective ears. More and more of our youth, dropping out of school. People can't afford health care, those who do have insurance are getting screwed. I had hoped to see what kind of answers our candidates had regarding these issues and more.

ABC Let all of us down.

8. I love Ken Schram.
Don't always agree with him, but I love how he speaks out.

And on this issue, I agree 100%.

(And I find it delicious that the station he is on is an ABC affiliate......)
