How about a McCain, Clinton, Obama debate?
I don't see why we can't have a debate with all three and get a chance to see how each candidate performs against McCain now.

Where is it written that we have to wait until after the conventions?

I say challenge McCain to a three-way now. He's being awfully lazy at this point.

2. Obama should debate McCain. He's our nominee/
Clinton doesn't deserve to be there.

3. McCain and Clinton will tag team Obama. It would be a bloodbath.
They'd do it with able assistance from whatever MSM hacks they pick to moderate it.

5. Probably not a good idea for Obama because McCain sees Obama as the tougher candidate

Obama would get nailed by both Clinton and McCain. McCain would go soft on Hillary. Hillary might just attack McCain and not Obama, allowing her to look tough on McCain and nice to Obama.

9. These reactions are a bit unexpected.
Since Clinton and McCain are so much alike, I would think Obama would stand out even more. If that were the case, I would think it would help him.

Gawd Clinton supporters are a sad bunch.

7. I'm not a Clinton supporter
I support both candidates equally, thanks and to that end, did not vote in my primary.

I actually imagined Obama and Clinton, even if not working together, being able to expose how out of touch McCain is on issues that matter.

There isn't a nominee until the convention declares a nominee. McCain could drop dead tomorrow and the Republicans would have to nominate someone else, doncha know? :)

11. Why in the world would McCain agree to such a debate?
To be teamed up on by two opposing candidates?

Why would he risk getting in the middle of a cat fight?

12. He's got a little time on his hands until the convention.
Of course he won't agree to it because he's got nothing to gain and too much to lose.

It's still an interesting thing to imagine, no?

When he refuses we can say he's cowardly.:)

McCain isn't going to walk into the Dems primary

Political rule: never interrupt a person in the midst of their committing political suicide.

He isn't going to bail the party out of this mess.

Wouldn't that upset the conventional wisdom of presidential elections!
