Recap Of The Obama Whistle Stop in Lancaster PA (large pics)
Edited on Sat Apr-19-08 10:47 PM by JimGinPA
I canvassed this morning and found a whole lot of Obama supporters.

Then I took my family (wife & two boys) to the rally in Lancaster. When we went to the town hall here a couple of weeks ago my younger son got sick and had to stay home...

He almost didn't make it in this time either. He does look suspicious...

I ran into Yael, but she made me promise not to include her picture.

They had three local bands in to entertain us...

The second group did an original song about America that was kind of cheesey, and we noticed the secret service (who had been extremely serious at the town hall) were texting each other and cracking up.

Then Aaron, the lead volunteer for Lancaster, came out to introduce Sen. Casey. Just before he went up onto the stage he noticed me in the front and came over and shook hands with me and thanked me for all the work I've been doing, which made me feel great and impressed the people around me a little. He is a veteren of Iraq and he gave a great speech.

Sen. Casey gave a nice speech introducing our next president.

This guy was next to us. A lot of the press took pictures of him, and he was interviewd after the rall by a local station.

My younger boy ran into one of the bands on the way out.

13. Jim & family were there earlier than I and I arrived 4 hours ahead of time.
Lots of room to move for the first hour and then it came to the point of hold your spot or lose it.

I can't wait to see what the crowd estimates are. Local police didn't have a number -- at least the ones I asked when I left.

If you're not too tired be sure to catch an Obama Rally @ Harrisburg on C-SPAN 12:25 AM EDT. It is well worth the viewing.

12. We Almost Went To Harrisburg...
Because it was pretty warm here today and we knew it was going to be a long wait. (If you want good seats/view you have to get there early). But the only tree inside the area was next to us when we settled on a spot and we were in the shade all afternoon.

I was going to skip seder and go to Harrisburg. Glad I went to the Lancaster event. It was a LONG day, but I got to meet the rest of Jim's family -- and that was worth the price of admission right there.

:D

18. No -- missed that.
I had no excuse for family seder tonight, so skipped out as soon as he wrapped up to get home, launch a drive by post of grainy photos, change clothes and get across town.

Sounds like he worked the line around the dais?

Glad to hear that you all got up close and were able (to Meth Pro's horror) actually "touch" him.

The work I put in for his appearence here in March would of distracted me for Get out the Vote.

I'm so happy he's seen our state and been to most of the parts of it.

Maybe I am overanalyzing this, but they really seem to have to great vibe/synergy going there.

Casey may be on his way towards a cabinet position.

His mother gave it to Obama back in January or February. Don't recall which city.

38. Awesome pics and a good looking kid!
I took my oldest son to the Dallas rally. He's 13 and I let him skip school. My bad - but the nuns will forgive him. Isn't it great how our children feel this way about a presidential candidate. At the link is a video that the Obama site posted during the Texas primary. You can see me and my son at 5:09 or so. I'm wearing a white cowboy hat. I can't figure out how to post that image in this post! It looks like we live in parallel universes!!!
