My brother's daughter refused to take her turn doing the dishes. She blamed Hillary.
My brother walked in on his daughter last night about an hour after dinner. She was sitting in front of her computer sending IMs to her friends, watching The Hills, and chatting on her cell phone. My brother reminded her that it was her turn to do the dishes, and they were waiting for her. My brother was shocked at her response: "Hillary Clinton says that any language or actions dealing with domestic work is sexist. She said that when Barack Obama accused her of metaphorically throwing china at him that it was sexist. Equal treatment of all members of this family is a core value we treasure, and for you to expect me to wash dishes simply because I'm female is sexist. I refuse."

My brother gathered himself and said, "I do the dishes when it is my turn, and so does your brother. It is your turn. Do them now."

Daughter: "I can't believe that my own father is a sexist pig. I am saddened and ashamed. Shame on you, Daddy, shame on you!"

And there you have it. The complete moral decay of our family simply because Hillary Clinton thinks any mention of dishes is sexist.

What's next? Man-on-turtle sex?

1. If she doesn't see the HUMAN value in cooperation....
your bro might consider setting one less piece of china at the table. Wouldn't want to offend the youngster by anything she finds demeaning.

hm, who, years ago, simply boxed the dirty dishes up and placed them on a chore-avoiding daughter's bed (only ONCE)

7. That is so sad. It's sadder yet that you were unable to convey any sense of personal responsibility.

19. there was nothing dumb-ass or inflammatory about the OP-JUST YOU
now I'm not without a sense of humor

and since you've taken the time to characterize your OWN STATEMENT as "dumb ass and inflammatory..." then you'll agree, that I'm at least half right.

Regarding the dishes argument... I have to agree with you, IF you are asserting that Obama's use of the word "china," although culturally, common as rain... was inappropriate. I winced when he said it.

But there was nothing "dumbass" or "inflammatory" about the story itself.

And "She's throwing the china," IS NOT ON A PAR WITH CRACK, LIMOS AND MALE HOOKERS.

I actually thought highly of the young lady that refused to do the dishes... even if she was WRONG... it was a smart, sassy and intelligent reaction.

I love a good argument from my kids... especially if it's thoughtful. But do the dishes they will...because I don't negotiate with Terrorists, but I will talk to them.

15. My brother frankly doesn't give a damn what Hillary says. Oddly, he doesn't trust her.
Although he never bought into Scaife's "vast rightwing conspiracy" accusing the Clinton's of everything but the kitchen sink, my brother has this personal philosophy of never believing anyone once they've been caught in a clear and manipulative lie.

His role in the conversation shifted rapidly from political jockeying to heavy-handed discipline. He walked out of my niece's room with her cellphone, Internet cable, and power cord to her television. Communications and harmony were restored roughly 30 minutes later when the dishes were finished. As in most conservative households, Hillary's role was fleeting at best.

16. Theory.
She said it because she knows or thinks your brother hates Hillary, figured your brother would approve of the slam, and thought using it could get her out of doing dishes.

Sometimes, it turns out to be nothing more than a kid thing.

18. Is this "Make Up Story Day On DU"???
Or is it "Blame Hillary Clinton For Everything Wrong In The Universe Day"??? I guess your "story" covers both. Is there a prize for the most elaborate story? I think you and your brother should stay away from turtles. Oy vay. DU has gone in the shitter thanks to people who post this kind of stuff.
