I live in Virginia, but I grew up in South Jersey and came up for a long weekend to help the Obama campaign in Philly. I'm headed back out to the streets soon, but I just want to put in a personal appeal to Obama supporters to help us out by making phone calls or coming to PA if you can.
I just had lunch with my mom, and she's the gloomiest I have ever seen her. She's worried about our family finances, business has not been going well, and she can't help us canvass because she broke her foot. She's feeling pessimistic about our family's future and pessimistic about our country's future. She'll vote for Clinton if she is the nominee but thinks it will be more of the same until we change the way things get done in Washington. She's not naive enough to believe that Obama will be able to accomplish everything he promises, but she does believe that he's the only candidate who has even a chance of bringing about meaningful changes.
If Obama could pull off the impossible and win tomorrow night, or even come close, it would go a long way towards cheering her up, and hopefully give her enough of a boost to start believing again and regain enough self-confidence to start promoting her business more or looking for a job. I know it sounds silly, but she is down in the dumps and really needs a boost right now, and an Obama victory tomorrow night would go a long way. So please, for my mom, do everything you can to help Obama pull it off. Make calls, talk to your friends and family in PA, travel here if you can. And if any Pennsylvanians are reading this and still undecided, when you go to cast your vote tomorrow, please think of my mom.
