Clinton Camp Won't Say How Hillary Disagrees With MoveOn
"There was a significant dose of stonewalling on Monday's conference call with aides to Sen. Hillary Clinton.

Asked to explain what areas of disagreement the senator had with the Democratic activist group Moveon.org -- which Clinton said she had clashed with -- Howard Wolfson, the senator's chief spokesperson, declined to even broach the question.

<snip>

This, however, was not the only duck and dive of the conference call. An earlier question came from Mother Jones' David Corn who, for the second time in less than a week, wanted to know what Sen. Clinton thought about her husband's pardoning of two members of the Weather Underground. Noting that Wolfson's first response - "she thinks it's a pardon from the president" - was "close to a non sequitur," Corn asked for a more detailed response.

"I'm not aware that she had an opinion," said Wolfson. "I don't have any more for you than what I've given you."

So now she is making statements, but won't explain or back up what she is saying. This needs to be covered. It shows that she will, as we have always said, will say anything if she thinks it will get her elected. If they are asking Wolfson straight up about these issues and they are giving no response at all it is one of two reasons. Either she was just spouting off and didn't believe what she was saying to start with, or else she knows her honest response would lose her the election.

1. It doesn't matter. She has learned well that the key is to control the news cycle
truth or accuracy is a non-issue entirely.

2. Seems to me that she's not ready for the easy questions. I can't imagine
what would happen if she were faced with hard ones.

8. I have to say it. I've kept it to myself for quite a while, but I'm starting
to question what type of people she would put up for SCOTUS, were she president. This isn't an issue that has come up in a debate and I haven't heard anyone ask her about it. I'm wondering, based on her policies and actions, what she would actually do in that situation.

12. I trust Obama to make better decisions.
About SCOTUS, about foreign policy, about taxes, about trade...

It all comes down to trust.

4. Hill already said it's national security and foreign policy
"And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it's primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don't agree with them. They know I don't agree with them."

6. So the first thing that comes to mind in that case is that she supports
the war. And boy, if that's the case, that needs to be brought out now.

7. Those are very broad, vague terms.
Obviously reporters wanted to know details. Guess the voters just have to be satisfied with her refusal to clarify what she meant by that.

is that she somehow gets the nomination and there is no one left in the party besides a few die hards to help her on her campaign. She seems determined to piss people off.

I have worked on every presidential campaign since 1960 and I can't remember any Dem candidate who alienated more Dems than she has.

16. Sorry no go
We should be speaking out against the DLC, not the DNC.

In case you hadn't noticed, this is a very Howard Dean friendly discussion board.

Welcome to DU, Enjoy your stay. :hi:

14. So, she'll throw Dem activists under the bus...
...yet won't divulge how she concluded we needed tossing.

Think she's painted herself into a corner here?
