ABC News' Eloise Harper reports: Former President Bill Clinton, speaking to reporters after his wife’s event in Pittsburgh, PA Monday, said that under the republican primary system –- his wife would be ahead by hundreds of delegates.

There is of course only one thing to say to this: Buh-bye.

The GOP has a "winner take all" system of delegates: in other words, the losing side is effectively silenced at the moment the voting is complete. In the Democratic Party system, the losing side maintains a voice in the process at the national level, and the closer that vote, the more powerful that voice. This makes sense to me, and seems more democratic on its face. And both candidates benefit from it to some extent.

The GOP system is a conceptual heir to the vicious Hobbesian illusion that differences within the political body must meld completely into the State for governance to be effective. The Clinton supporters can keep that philosophy. I sure don't want it.

The rules are equally applied.

They are free to make the case that the winner take all system of delegates is more to their liking. That's all it is: a case. As it stands, everybody played by the same rules.
