Yikes! What's going on here? Has tons of money - buying 3 times the comercials as the competitor, yet can't seal the deal. Does not bode well for the General Election.

3. Buyer's remorse
His hot streak came before the MSM began vetting him. Since then he has been 2-4 in legit elections and 3-4 overall, including 0-3 in big states (all this assumes he loses PA).

34. By legit
You mean those that "HILLAY" has won, right? This is a joke. Hillary started out with more money, name recognition, lots of big name backers, everything one would need to take the election away from a new comer like Obama, yet she hasn't been able to do that. Obama has millions in his war chest because he has done a great job of managing things. Hillary on the other hand is over 10 "million" in debt, and can't get the money any more to take Obama down. Now to me that shows a problem in her tactics, not his!

43. MS and VT were legit and Obama won
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 11:18 AM by jackson_dem
I don't consider any "election" with 2.5% turnout like Wyoming legit. When folks have equal access to voting Obama loses.

4. close the deal
the talking point is "can't close the deal". Deals are not sealed, they are closed. By the way Clinton had the nomination locked up last year, what the heck happened with her deal-closing capabilities?

18. At this point, neither of them can close the deal.
If either is nominated, he or she will have to be dragged over the finish line by super delegates.

We have a very divided party.

22. Deals are both closed and sealed.
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 10:26 AM by Seabiscuit
"close the deal" and "seal the deal" are informal expressions that both mean: "to come to an agreement; to determine the terms of an agreement". See, e.g.: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/seal%20the%20deal

"close the deal" is an expression more often used in financial circles. In legal circles, "seal the deal" is more common.

What happened in Iowa? Super Tuesday? The Majority of states so far? Why isn't the 109 million dollar woman putting up her own fat cash supply if she's worried about being outspent?

29. They are in denial. They recognize it for the primaries but not the GE
The AA vote in the GE will be half of what it is in the Dem primaries. Where does he make up that 9% that vanishes? This isn't even getting to the GE decline of latte voters, another pillar of his coalition!

and still she is losing the overall contest by like 14 states to 28 states. She's down in the popular vote, pledged delegates and soon will be down in super delegates. phbt!

14. I thought they were going for delegates.
Now suddenly they need the popular vote?

It has nothing to do with the General Election. Nothing at all. Obama won't win red states he's won in the primary, and he won't lose blue states that HRC won in the primary.

25. OMG, what IS going on here?
May I remind you that HRC had all of the money and media advantage going into Iowa, she came in 3rd.

She declared it would be over on Super Tuesday and we're all still here.

She's had well over 12 years in the public eye yet SHE couldn't close the deal.

That is what doesnt bode well for the general election.
