The day before PA Clinton supporters don't show up - Is there Clinton fatigue in PA

In appearence after appearence yesterday the Clintons had very small numbers at their events is this a harbinger of things to come today?

32. Thanks for inspiring me!
There are millions of people all over the globe that think otherwise.

I'll donate $50 today to the NAACP because you have inspired me this morning!

Thanks :bounce:

10. Capacity 9,000 at a school with 24,000 students and faculty in a major metropolitan area.
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 12:11 PM by TahitiNut
Compare that with 35,000 for Obama. Big fucking whoops.

21. the point is dude its no big thing to fill up a gymnasium on a campus.
If they had the people they would have picked a bigger facilities.

Read the news stories they had to use curtains to cut other facilities in half.

You can disagree with the analysis but the fact is that the day before the vote they had terrible responses at their events.

Maybe they threw them together without enough notice? The fact is that they had a lousy day in terms of campaign events.

22. Campaigns select venues so they DON'T look vacant.
9,000 isn't really that much for a major campaign stop in an area so HYPED for weeks. Campus venues are easy pickin's with a built-in set of attendees (nothing better to do?). So, Hillary's advance team got one right. Good. It's too bad they couldn't draw a bigger audience ... in which case they'd pick a larger venue. It's not rocket science.

14. For a campaign ending event in a make or break it contest the event at Palestra
was good but still modest - 8,000

however as the reports showed thru out the day they appeared before disappointing crowds from 200 to 1200

Stretched all the way up to the Lehigh Valley 60 miles away. I got a robo call and an email asking me to come down.

3. Airport hanger "rallies" ... the laziest way to campaign.
It's all about candidate logistics ... and "herding" the voters to a place convenient for the campaign, NOT for the voters.

5. WOW. Compare that 2nd picture to the photos of Obama at UPenn
He got 22,000 some people to show up. The crowd that showed up for Bill only looks to be a couple hundred.

31. Hillary's own people say 8000 showed up ....
About 8,000 people attended the rally, according to the Clinton campaign.

http://media.www.dailypennsylvanian.com/media/storage/paper882/news/2008/04/22/News/Palestra.Rally.Ends.Clintons.Pa.Push-3340683.shtml

Another article says around 7000 ....

"This has been an extraordinary campaign, and it has been for all the right reasons," Clinton told the audience of about 7,000 supporters ... -snip-

27. what actually happened is
1) they had lousy turnouts as reported by newspapers not a message board

2) in a make or break it primary that could end their campaign they chose a modest facility on a college campus where it is historically easy to round up folks at the last minute for an event. They robo called for 50 miles asking people to come by.

3) In event after event thru out the day they had lousy showings.

She may win. She may win by a landslide. Yesterday however they had a series of very low attended events and concluded the Pennsylvania with a modest event on a college campus. It was not a very impressive end to her Pennsylvania campaign.

33. Remember in the days before the last Election, Bush had little
tiny crowds and Kerry had thousands of people at his rallies.

Then Bush "won."

I've read several posts about them suppresssing the votes today in Philly,I can't get in touch with my friend.

I believe he is there monitoring the voting process.

He said the dirty tricks from HC in Ohio were shameful --- they were exdpecting the same in Philly.

12. Hillary draws 1,500. Obama draws 22,000
He still will probably lose, but she only gets votes on name recognition alone.

If she weren't a Clinton she would be out of the race completely.

with a former President

I suppose this also is pathology:

Bill Clinton's Birthday Bash Empty
Americans snub invitation to pay $500,000 for Clinton birthday party | the Daily Mail

When America's liberal elite were offered the chance to pay up to $500,000 each (about £260,000) to attend Bill Clinton's 60th birthday extravaganza tonight - with the added promise of a private Rolling Stones concert - a packed house was expected.

Wife Hillary and daughter Chelsea sent out about 10,000 invitations to Hollywood tycoons, movie stars, captains of industry and Wall Street - with all proceeds to go to the former President's charitable foundation.

Those who pledged the top price were promised the 'Birthday Chair Package', with the best seating for the concert as well as a chance to have photographs taken with Mr Clinton during a round of golf and a three-day series of cocktail, brunch and dinner parties.
