It is painfull to have to say it. It is hard to believe how effective it is.
I think it is a learned skill. Bush and Cheney are pretty good at it,
but Hillary (and from what I hear Bill also) does it with amazing ease.

I watched her calmly, without apparent fuss or exaggeration, make it seem that Obama was
behind all the negativity in the campaign.

She was able to portray herself as above it. Concerned that Obama did not have the maturity
to address effectively his self-inflicted problems, and thus had to resort to negative attacks
and distortions of her record.

Unless you had followed the campaign independently, and understood that that every other sentence was a lie, it would be hard not to feel sympathy and empathy for her cause.
