******OFFICIAL OBAMA SUPPORTER'S PA PRIMARY THREAD******
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 05:05 PM by hnmnf
Saw they have their's up so Id put ours up. This is a thread for Obama supporters who dont feel like dealing with the nastiness of GDP and want to talk with their fellow obama supporters. If you feel the need to disrupt, please don't and go to your own thread.

A Message from Kittycat

GOTV thread from Sandsea - polls don't close until 8PM EST.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

A little inspiration:
http://www.dipdive.com /

A little humor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyhIBXNfqMA

And a reminder... HRC is EXPECTED to win. PA is a tailormade state for her. Obama has been behind by as much as 25pts there in the past 8 weeks. With the help of his incredible supporters and grassroots campaigning efforts, he has done a tremendous job trying to close the gap. Anything less than a double digit win for Clinton, is a significant loss for her. So let's band together, and celebrate the night - whatever comes.

Kat

1. hnmf, I hate to say this
but the fastest way to encourage disruptors, is to ask them to stay out!

But thanks for the thread.

I'm hoping it stays under 12, what do you think?

20. If Obama can keep this to single digits, I'll be satisfied.
Under 6 and I'll be happy.

An Obama win and I'll be celebrating.

We need to be an opposition party, not just a weaker version of the GOP. Arguments aren't won by agreeing with your opponent with caveats.

Large numbers of new voters. The poll where I voted, the poll workers said they had a very large number of first-time voters. My husband is inside a poll in another part of the county, and the poll workers say the buzz is the number of enthusiastic new voters. More young voters.

65. On the Verge of a Stunner in Pennsylvania?
(Oh please, Goddess, please please please...)

On the Verge of a Stunner in Pennsylvania?

Hold on to your hats. I've gotten the usual word of the exit poll results from one of my usual reliable sources. He notes that Obama traditionally over-performs in the earliest exit polls*, and that he expects the numbers to change as the night wears on - perhaps a reversal.

But right now, the exits are saying Obama 52 percent, Clinton 47 percent.

Take these results with the usual grains of salt and skepticism. I'm told that Obama is carrying blue collar workers two to one, and he's winning Philadelphia in the neighborhood of three to one.

As usual, if you're a Pennsylvanian and haven't voted yet, don't let these or any other numbers discourage you.

UPDATE: Brendan Loy looked at Obama's performance in the early exit polls and concludes "Obama generally does 7-8 points worse in the actual results than he did in the leaked, unweighted exit polls."

ANOTHER UPDATE: Yes, I know Drudge has the numbers reversed. I checked with my source, and this is what they've got. I have more than one source who hears these numbers, and haven't yet heard from all of them.

(Yes, but remember that Philadelphia actual vote tallies almost always come in later than the rest of the state, and he's expected to do really well there...)

66. Question about the exit polls
I remember from Ohio, that the early exit polls favored Obama, and Hillary did better later on. Is the same likely for PA?

This seems counter-intuitive. I'd figure the older supporters of Hillary would get out early, and the younger Obama supporters would vote late...

73. So I took a look at the MSNBC poll RE: Gun Owners
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 05:41 PM by hnmnf
That poll had Obama losing by 5. They had gun owners going for Hillary 53-28, but the exit polls show it going her way 58-42

Plus this poll had Clinton winning the Economy issue 50-41. Early exits have him going up to a 14 point margin, but the Iraq question had Clinton winning by 7, and in reality Obama won by 14.

Their poll, done with McClatchy, right, had her leading by 25 among gun owners and 5 overall but the exit polls show Obama doing better with gun owners than their poll?

Or am I still confused?

Ok, well I hope he wins (obviously), but the demographic polls (the most trusted) show this a very, very close race. I have a feeling we're going to see Missouri Part II, where Clinton cleans up in the middle of the state and Obama runs the score up in some of his strong holds. It's going to be a very long night.

The numbers are going to change as results come in. Remember, exit polls have a margin of error too.

The original exit polls released for Ohio had Obama doing better than he was. So the data will shift.

119. First post
I just wanted to say I did my part. There was a line at our polling place and the two people in front of me weren't able to vote because they are registered as independents. I didn't have any problems, I was asked for ID but they said that it might be because I hadn't voted in a while. I think it was because I got a new registration card in preparation for the election. At my old poling place in 2006, one of the poll workers seemed to become a little concerned that I was in the wrong place and shortly after a local police officer walked down the line of voters and took a quick glance at me but didn't say anything. So I wanted to be ready this year with i's dotted and t's crossed. I wanted to make sure there wouldn't be any crap during this historic election, I'm glad I was prepared.

Plus no cops in our new location in Berks, not that I think it would have been a problem anymore, they haven't followed me home in at least 6 months.

128. Obama GOTV is turned up to 11
When I got back from voting, there was a flyer in my door handle saying to VOTE OBAMA and call this number if you need a ride.

A couple of hours later, there was a volunteer on the phone asking if we needed any help to get out and vote.

An hour ago came a recorded message of Obama saying to go knock on all our friends' and relatives' doors and send them out to vote.

I've *never* seen anything like this.

We're in northern Bucks County by the way. When I went to the polls at about 3:30, my poll-watching friend told me that 35% of the registered Democrats had already voted, which was high for that hour, and that he expected it to reach about 55%.

He also said that the number of Democrats in town had pulled to within 15-20 of the Republicans. That's incredible, given that it used to be a 2 to 1 Republican margin.

Change is definitely in the air.

1-4 = Obama win, Clinton could be forced out.

Most electoral polls show Obama winning Iowa & Wisconsin, and Hillary losing them, so that's pretty much the very definition of battleground.

BTW, just so yinz guyz know I ain't phonin' this PA stuff in...
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 07:47 PM by ralbertson
Despite my having lived in Georgia for two decades in the interim, when I wrote this piece:

A Small Piece of Pennsylvania

I wasn't doing it from old fuzzy memories, the way Ms. Rodham Clinton apparently was when she misremembered misspeaking about being under misfire upon the bullet-torn tarmac of Tuzla that day.

After a post-Georgia sojourn developing online communities for a living out in the heady, hazy daze of the Silicon Valley dot-boom-gone-bust, between the '04 Presidential campaign and my relocating to Bahstun to take my current (though recursive) day job, I spent a few years living in Erie where I'd orignally been borned and breaded, taking care of me elderly da (and, of course, still writing about politics for a living anyway. Sigh. I really do need to take me one of those vacation thingies one of these days. I wonder if I can download one from those pesky InterTubez?)

Anyway, since this is a PA'ers for O'Bamer thread, though... I will take this opportunity to fully disclose that, much to my surprise and amazement, the last half-year I've spent living in the extremely close-to-Boston-burg of Somerville (or, as we call it here, Summavull) has had the net effect, thanks to the tactics of a certain non-black non-male and allegedly non-elitist candidate's campaign, made me identify far more as a native Pennsylvanian than I had ever since I was a wee bairn (and, somewhat later, PSU grad) there.

WTG, Clintonia Uber Alles! Thanks to y'all, er, youse guys, er, you folks, er, I mean, yinz... I can proudly stand up and say right here in this very thread today, "Ich bin ein Pennsylvanier!" instead.

Yay!

passionately proud to be a non-bitter post-Pennsylvania partisan for Obama,

For weeks they tell us Clinton can't just win, but will need to win big or it's over. Then the second she wins, they change their tone and say it doesn't matter, because she won.

I knew this would happen. Even if Obama loses by .1%, they'll still call it a loss.

Obama's volunteers are amazing. To close the gap that much... awesome.

Yesterday and all day long today I kept hearing pundits say that anything less than 10 percent would put an end to the race, and yet now that it's 8 percent (and will probably tighten) they all seem to have forgotten they said that.

Now... on to North Carolina and Indiana...I can't wait. Gobama!

It's obvious Obama is not going to end this tonight and it is possible he will not end it in his favor in the end. I will not vote for Hillary and my suggestion to those who feel as I do is to vote McBush for president and vote democrate for senators and congressman. Hillary is a republican in disguise and I would rather tie the hands of McBush for four years than have a wolf in sheeps clothing calling the shots.

Yes We Can -- a continually evolving dedication to results-- far more collaborative and creative than the bulldozing Yes We Will. Si se puedes if we all continue working together. Senator Obama says that in his speeches and has dedicated his life to that. Yes We Will is in the future. Yes We Can is an evolving now.

242. McCain Republicans voting for Hillary now...
...so they can delay the Democratic challenge to McCain later.

Anybody know how many GOP's suddenly changed colors to keep Democrats fighting?
