I feel a bit like going conspiracy theorist tonight
I think that the voting machines are going to be a problem. Not because of Clinton or Obama. But because if Clinton wins a tainted victory, especially if it was crowbarred into a primary win, the ones who benefit are the Republics.

I am all the more suspicious with Drudge and NRO exit polls reported here bringing Obama so close. If they can paint taint on the the result, no matter what the result is, they benefit.

Just my thought of the day, as I rode around driving clients hither and thither, counting the forclosed and for sale signs that outnumber the political signs by a hefty margin.

11. They can be, everywhere.
People act like exit polls are preliminary counts, that they just read off the numbers without any assumptions or adjustments.

They're partial counts with assumptions about how to fill in non-respondents, and more assumptions on how to extrapolate those numbers to the portion of the electorate that votes.

Pick bad places for your partial count, account for non-respondents poorly, and make bad assumptions on the relationship between your partial count and the make-up of the electorate as a whole, and you get gibberish. Adjusting the exit poll for precinct-level actual turnout helps get rid of a lot of the bad assumptions, but not all.

And if you do things to make the respondents for the partial count be non-random, all bets are off.

12. It's OK, I apparently went too tinfoil last night
I posted this thread last night and thought it musta been way too tinfoil for anyone here cuz I didn't get a single response. MY concern was could voter registration info be **changed** so when they went to vote today they would be told they were ineligible or some such nonense when they got to the polls today.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5612265&mesg_id=5612265

Online voter registration PDFs are left unsecured on the server for anyone to access. Simply change the request ID at the end of the URL. Valid IDs appear to be working from 50000 and up to 58500+ This was discovered after filling out a registration myself. Being a security conscious programmer, I decided to test. Very bad PA…very very bad!

The entire application has since been replaced with a message that says the site is temporarily offline, but the basis of the flaw was that an attacker could force the application to retrieve arbitrary PDF voter registration files of other voters by simply modifying a request parameter sent in a request to the PrintVoterApplication.aspx page.
