Matthews: Media Created the "DELUSION" that Clinton Can Win
Chris Matthews: The Media Created "Delusion" That Hillary Can Win (VIDEO)

Huffington Post | April 22, 2008 06:34 PM

Chris Matthew started off the Pennsylvania primary coverage with a bang tonight. Shortly after 6, seated by co-anchor Keith Olbermann, Matthews called the primary, and thus his coverage tonight, basically moot. "This contest is essentially over," he proclaims to Keith. "Barack Obama is going to win the most elected delegates."

He went on to say of the media, "Trying to keep this game going, we've created the delusion that somehow this race is still open."

2. one funny thing
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 07:16 AM by ErinBerin84
I really do think that it's true that Matthews wants to run for office in PA...and I think he desperately wanted to "get it right" in the minds of PA. A couple of weeks ago, he was saying that the Hillary Clinton win was going to be a "blowout, double digits, because of 'bitter'". Then, a couple days ago he said "Hmmm. I don't think so anymore. I think he had a good weekend.."(I think he wants to save himself room so he can go with the eventual winner, as not to piss off PA). And yesterday afternoon, he was lamenting that the Clintons always change the goalposts, when her lead was down. And then after Hillary's win, he was saying "Look at them. Look at how that family comes together!" Haha, it's so funny to watch.

6. He's looking to fill Arlen Specter's seat so
I would assume he intends to run as a Republican.

9. I can forgive him campaigning for his own brother
Family ties and all. But I hope he realizes what a disaster * has been.

11. He seems to switch back and forth on that one...
One moment Bush is the manly man, and 'we are all neocons now.' The next moment Bush is evil incarnate. Tweety goes wherever the wind is blowing.

8. He's a Democrat for now!
How dare you impugn the integrity of Chris Matthews!!
How dare you, indeed!
Why, this man used to be a speech writer for Jimmy Carter!
How dare you!

just because the truth hurts some, makes it no less true.

Using the word "delusional". Seeing so many Hillary supporters last n ight, after having so many on ignore. It was shocking to see just how far into delusion they've sunk.

19. The media is raking in the dough keeping this alive AND they owe Bill Clinton for TELECOM ACT OF '96
which lead to media consolidation in the first place.

Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 08:19 AM by ErinBerin84
I looked at my clock, and wondered if it was wrong. And then five minutes later, Matthews casually says something like..."It's 7:30. The polls are still open. If you have not yet voted, I urge you to perform your civic duty". Nice save. Except not.

21. For once I agree with Chris Matthews
and they continue to do it, create the illusion she has a chance to win this nomination when they know and we know she does not.
