Was there *any* media coverage of Obama's legendary anti-war speech?
The linchpin of Barack Obama's campaign is a http://www.suntimes.com/news/sweet/601567,CST-NWS-obama13.article">speech he made outside Chicago's Kluczynski Federal Building on October 2, 2002.

It's a great speech, IMHO, Obama's best.

I've spent the last few hours trying to find even a single article written in October, 2002 about that speech and have turned up zilch.

Wasn't anything written about it at the time?

1. You serious? The M$M? In 2002?
Not a chance. They were in full lock-step at the time.

3. Weird thing is...
Obama repeatedly claims that he made that speech in the middle of a high-stakes U.S. Senate campaign (though he didn't declare his candidacy until 3 months later, and per "Audacity" that campaign was a cakewalk).

I really do think it's a great speech, but I'd like to see some kind of contemporaneous coverage that gives some context to it. There doesn't seem to have been so much as an audio recorder capturing the thing.

2. Not really

You gotta remember, Obama was a state legislator in Illinois. He didn't catch national attention until 2004.

4. I recently posted a challenge to anyone on this issue
I first noticed this over a month ago when I decided maybe I should go back and watch it since I never had.

I did not question that he gave a speech that day, just that it is strange we have nothing to base it upon until Obama issued a press release three weeks later, after the furor following the debate and Senate vote.

I was shocked when I could not find any independent verification of something this important in the campaign.
