So why doesn't Hillary just self finance her campaign?
They are worried about money, after all. If she's so sure she'll win this, maybe Hillary and Bill should just let loose on some of those $100 millions and do it themselves, right?

I'm not sure I understand the emphasis -- from both the pundits and from the Clinton campaign itself -- on money at this point. Didn't we just learn that the Clintons have a fortune of over $100 million? Surely insofar as her campaign thinks it's actually the case that money is what stands between her and the White House the family can afford to spend the necessary cash whether or not her fundraising revives.

1. Why spend more of her own money when she can get it from her supporters to pay Penn

2. They're about $10 million in the red, and they need a lot more to run those
ads.

3. Apparently her supporters are tapped out or maxed out by law. Hence her rather large campaign
deficit.

The OP asks a good question.

If she is "in it to win it," why doesn't she invest in herself?

4. I think there are restrictions that have kicked in. I could be wrong.

Didn't they already throw some cash in? 5 mil? Anyway, $100 mil is likely little actual cash.

I have a certain amount of monetary value in my property and 401k, but only $121 bucks in the bank.

Kerry took out a loan against his home.

8. Didn't Romney spend like $40M of his own money?
I know it was a good chunk of change. So if Hill and Bill are so convinced they can win, they should show their faith in themselves and pony up.

11. Romney was worth as much as $500 million.
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 12:00 PM by onehandle
Again, just because you're "worth" $100 million, it doesn't mean you have the cash on hand.

Anyway, Obama may be 75-90% of the (active-I think many have left) fan base here, but she's 40 to 45% of the Democratic fan base in the real world. The money is out there.

12. "Anyway, Hillary may be 75-90% of the... fan base here..."
How do you figure that? Looking at the DU polls I'd guess no more than 30% here (though the 40 to 45% in the real world may be accurate).

17. As I posted in another reply in this thread, she has 40 to 45% of the Democratic base.

Theoretically she shouldn't have to. She's already raised milions since last night.

5. Why Would she Want To
All she wants to do is use Tax Payer Money, why Would her Elitist Scumbage butt want to waste her own money in something she knows she is going to lose. She is probably Owned by the Republican. She'll probably get even more money if they win and she knows it
