We Have Lost Our Way. Get Back On Track!
Edited on Wed Apr-23-08 01:09 PM by demwing
I thought DU was a hot spot of contention in 2004, with the Dean vs Kerry business. That was kid stuff. When I come back today, after the PA mess has passed us, and I see such acid coming from both camps, Obama's and Hillary's - we share blame here - it makes me question what it is we are trying to promote?

Reason?

Peace?

Honor?

Unity?

Justice?

Strength?

Honesty?

Basic Civility?

What do we have to offer the country that contrasts us against the Republicans? Judging by whats going on here at DU, we don't have a damn thing.

How can we bring about change in this county, when we can't change our own hearts, even in regards to those whom we should hold most closely to ourselves?

I suggest a moratorium on campaign contributions to our candidates. 1 day...1 week...1 month...whatever you feel comfortable with. During that time, please donate to the DNC to help in the general election, regardless of whom eventually wins the primary. If you don't like that plan, fine. Come up with another one. But the fact is that the primary will continue on, we'll continue destroying ourselves. If we have no common candidate to unite behind, let's unite behind what we do have in common.

People, if we can't bring peace to our party, unite our party, and promote our platform, we don't deserve to win ANYTHING in November.

Donate to the DNC HERE

Let's remember that we are the Democratic Party of the United States. The country needs this change, and the world is watching us.

BTW - I will shamelessly kick the shit out of this thread all by myself if I have to.

4. You know, we don't have to wait for a hero to unite us
And neither Hillary nor Obama can do it if we don't WANT to be united.

But if we WANT to be united, why the hell can't we do it on our own? Are we children, waiting for some adult to hold our hads while we cross the intersection?

Can we just stop harming each other and move forward?
