Last Nebraska SD, Edwards National Chairman, 49 Other Edwards Supporters Throw Support to Obama
Keep it coming baby!!

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=2835&u_sid=10317849

"LINCOLN - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama today picked up another Nebraska superdelegate.

Audra Ostergard said she would back the Illinois senator.

"I have carefully weighed input from Democrats across Nebraska and closely watched results from primaries and caucuses across the country," Ostergard said.

"There are compelling arguments for supporting both candidates, but my decision came down to what's best for our country and for Nebraska. In that regard, I am confident in my decision to endorse Senator Obama. He has a proven ability to activate Democrats in Nebraska ," she said.

"Obama won 16 of Nebraska's 24 pledged delegates at February caucuses. New York Sen. Hillary Clinton won the remainder. With Ostergard's announcement today, all six Nebraska superdelegates are supporting Obama".

And for the rest of the story:

http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/zachedwards/gGCVsd

"Raleigh, NC -- The Obama campaign today announced the endorsement of 49 prominent supporters of John Edwards - including Ed Turlington, Edwards’ former National General Chairman. These North Carolina leaders - ranging from Members of Congress to a former Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court to former law partners and longtime friends of John Edwards - cite Barack Obama’s commitment to fighting for change on behalf of working Americans and taking on the special interests in Washington.

"Barack Obama and John Edwards share a commitment to taking on special interests and standing up for regular Americans. Along with Edwards supporters from across the state, I am honored to join Senator Obama's movement for change,” said Turlington. “As president, he will bring together Democrats, Republicans and Independents behind an agenda of change. From ending the war in Iraq to confronting the scourge of poverty to making health care affordable for every single American, Barack Obama will bring our country the change we need.”

The diverse group said they are voting for Obama because he is the only candidate with a proven ability to unite America around a common vision and win the votes of Republicans and Independents whose support is critical to carrying the state in the fall.

Like Edwards, Obama refused donations from PACs and Washington lobbyists and vowed to stand up to the special interests that have blocked so much progress for working Americans in Washington, DC.

“John Edwards has dedicated his life and career to fighting poverty in America. Barack Obama demonstrated that same commitment when he turned down a high-paying job on Wall Street to work in Chicago communities decimated by steel mill closings,” said Louise Coggins, a social worker from Wilmington who has known John and Elizabeth Edwards for 30 years. “Senator Obama is now the only candidate in the race who doesn’t take money from PACs and federal lobbyists. We can count on him to stand up to special interests in Washington, DC on behalf of working men and women in America.”

The full list of local leaders who had previously backed John Edwards' campaign for president, but today are throwing their support behind Obama are:

David Price, U.S. Congressman (4th Dist) Mel Watt, U.S. Congressman (12th Dist) G.K. Butterfield, U.S. Congressman (1st Dist)

5. Looks like 2 more superdelegates for Obama's total then
G K Butterfield had already endorsed and campaigned for Obama, but it seems that Price and Watt are new endorsements - as congressmen, they are all superdelegates.

I see congressman Andre Carson in Indiana has also endorsed him just now, making three. Add in the lady from Nebraska whose name I've temporarily forgotten and that's 4 today...did I get everyone?

8. I think that is all for now - and it's more SDs than Clinton got for the
last month or so. I guess these folks didn't get the Clinton memo to not endorse anyone until she was good and darn ready!

11. I forgot Brad Henry...so that makes a total 5 today. Whoo!
Brad Henry - OK governor
Andre Carson - IN congressman
David Price - NC congressman
Mel Watt - NC congressman
Audra Ostergard - NE state party

I notice he picked up another SD in Nebraska last Saturday (Steve Achelpohl) but it didn't get much notice since everyone was focusing on PA.

But 5 today...looks like winning PA was strictly a short-term celebration for team Clinton. Almost half their delegate gain has been canceled already.

Although I'd imagine their 9 delegates might have trouble setting them up by themselves.

Seasoned political operators lining up behind an "unelectable" candidate? What's wrong with this picture? Oh, I know what it is...he IS electable after all and he is the BEST candidate for the party.

10. THAT'S MY STATE!! Go Husker Super D's!
Glad to see that the people in my state "get it". Now, let's see if we can really throw people for a loop and actually give him Nebraska in November. It will be tough (they don't say we bleed Husker Red for no reason - it's the politics as well), but it's do-able.

which will make ZERO imprint in the General Election because they will always stay RED.

Right..........:banghead:

17. Not neccesarily. McCain isn't excatly popular with conservatives.
Even if he doesn't win those states he will make McCain invest resources into states that he would normally win hands down.

18. He can win Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado
all Red States in 2004.

He can put Virginia into Play and maybe Louisiana.

In addition, he can bring for sure Wisconsin and Minnesota, two states that are normally shaky.

These are all things that Hillary, according to current polls, cannot do.

24. I think he wins VA
especially with Warner running for Senate. That's a strong downticket race that's sure to help Obama. I'm less confident about LA though; that stays red.
