You are mistaken on this one, Maya
Edited on Thu Apr-24-08 07:59 PM by vincenzoesq
Dear Dr. Angelou
I have always admired you, and been inspired by the way you see the world. But this time, I think you are wrong. Though Hillary and I share a gender, a skin color, and an age bracket, she cannot represent me.
Barack Obama envisions the world I envision. He speaks to my heart, my soul, and my mind. I respect his integrity, his intelligence, and his profound belief in the ability of human beings to work together. I believe he is an honorable man who will help us to once again, respect ourselves, and once again, earn the respect of the world.

Clinton's inauguration. They go back a long time.

2. His integrity?
I guess you haven't heard about what Rev Wright told Bill Moyers. You can read it at Huffingtonpost.

REVEREND WRIGHT:
"It went down very simply. He's a politician, I'm a pastor. We speak to
two different audiences. And he says what he has to say as a
politician. I say what I have to say as a pastor. But they're two
different worlds."

3.  Rev. Wright's comments are a non issue
No one should be held accountable for another person's remarks. We are accountable for what WE say and do.

13. Um, Hillary has plenty of her own comments to be held accountable for.
The phrase "massive retaliation" might ring a bell. Those were her words and no one else's.

26. I don't get what is so controversial about the remarks
??? Being a politician or a pastor are two different things, two different worlds. What is the big deal? And, if the comment is controversial (which it isn't) Obama didn't say it anyway.

She has a mind of her own, a brilliant mind at that. She doesn't need you to tell her
how to think.

20. Maya Angelou is old, and unfortunately comes from a time when a
white person, ANY white person with a "D" behind his/her name knew what was best for black people. As an AA myself, I understand her loyalty to the Clintons....I don't admire her for it, but I understand it.

Ms. Angelou is not infallible, no one is, and she's wrong in this situation and she's going to be called on it. The Bob Johnsons, and Maya Angelous may find themselves completely shunned by the very people responsible for their successes.

14. How appropriate this post is..thank you, vincenzoesq..
I just saw a bit of a letter from Maya Angelou on another site that started out saying how she's known hilary and how "honest" she is..that's when I stopped reading and shook my head.

Do I believe Maya or hilary's insurmountable lies?

SlickHilly's long list of lies, spins, and morphs.
1) "I support the DNC rules." ------- "Florida and Michigan should be seated as is."

2) "It doesn't matter if my name is on the MI ballot, MI doesn't count." ----- "MI counts and
others could have been on the ballot had they wanted."

3) "I lose caucus states because MoveOn and activists take them over and intimidate my voters."

4) "You don't get change by hoping or fighting for it, you get it by working for it." ------
"We need a fighter in the White House and I'm your fighter."

5)"I am honored to be here with Barack Obama." ----- "Shame on you Barack Obama."

6) "Barack Obama can't win the GE." ----- "Yes yes yes, he can win (but I'm better)".

7) "We took sniper fire when we landed in Bosnia."

8) "Obama won SC because there are many AA's there."

9) "My PA victory was overwhelming." (Though she was SUPPOSED to win and WAS ahead by 20 a few weeks ago and won by only 9.)

10) "If we had the Republican system, I would be the nominee."

11) "John McCain and I are experienced, Obama isn't."

12) "I want a Middle East security umbrella and will nuke Iran if they attack Israel or those under my umbrella." (So much for a new foreign policy approach because I gotta look TOUGH and get the Jewish vote.)

13) "I helped broker a peace deal in Northern Ireland."

14) "PACS and lobbyists are real citizens."

15) "I have lots of experience in the White House, but didn't know my husband pardoned Weathermen or invited Rev. Wright when he was repenting over Monica."

16) "Obama should disown his former pastor on principle, but I won't disown my husband for cheating on me MULTIPLE times."

17) "I'm the fighter for the people who takes PAC $, lobbyist $, worked for WalMart, worked for the corporate Rose Law Firm, and was close to convict Norman Hsu."

18) "I was cool to NAFTA then for it for YEARS and am now cool to it again."

19) "I am against the Iraq war but voted for it and won't say that vote was an error."

20) "I am a lifelong Yankee fan and my daughter was jogging around the twin towers on 9/11 so I was a very concerned mother that day."

21) "Obama is afraid to debate me." (even though we have debated 21 times)

22) "No, my husband wasn't having kinky encounters with Monica. It is a vast right wing conspiracy !!"

24. I fear at the end of this process, Maya will have lost the credibility
she's worked so hard to earn lo these many years. It's sad really. She and people like Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Bob Johnson, and Maxine Waters have sat idly by, while the Clintons and their surrogates have said the most vile things imaginable. Things that they would be decrying all over the 24/7 media circus if they had been said by a Republican.

Even Rep. Clyburn, who has remained neutral, is speaking out about the outright race baiting by the Clinton camp. How any self respecting black person can support them now, is completely beyond me, especially since 50% of Clinton's PA supporters say they won't support a black candidate.
