Clinton calls for free-trade timeout.....The Fayetteville Observer

The Fayetteville Observer

America should call a timeout on free trade agreements, says Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, to “figure out what works, what doesn’t work.”

“How long? I don’t know,” Clinton said following a speech at Methodist University on Thursday. “But a timeout long enough to evaluate every single trade agreement. I don’t think a trade agreement should be written in stone. It’s not the Constitution. We should evaluate them every five years.”

In an interview with The Fayetteville Observer, Clinton talked about the North American Free Trade Agreement, which has been blamed for the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs in North Carolina. She also discussed the war in Iraq, immigration and union organizing efforts at the Smithfield Packing Co. plant in Tar Heel.

The interview was held in an empty classroom near the gymnasium. No television cameras, lights or other props, just two chairs facing each other. Clinton casually sipped a glass of water while listening to questions.

The interview came as the North Carolina Democratic campaign intensifies. Clinton and her rival, Sen. Barack Obama, are expected to make numerous appearances across the state before the May 6 primary.

6. ED, you and I are both New Yorkers
prior to this statement, has Hillary ever said anything negative about free trade as our Senator?

I opposed the Iraq war because I knew that our "victory" (a stable, pro-west, unified Iraq) was 50 hard years away. I would have supported the war if I thought victory could be achieved in 5 or 10 years. I knew we could beat the shit out of the "Iraq Revolutionary Guards" in a matter of weeks. But the "victory" would take decades.

That is why I think Hillary is such a piece of shit. She supported the war when it was popular, then opposed it when the sheeple grew tired of it. Now Hillary is saying that she will cut and run in defeat if she is elected. BULLSHIT! As C-in-C, Hillary will show us how to win in Iraq (grow popular global support for the war, diplomacy, staged withdrawal).

Anyway, I could care less if Obama, Hillary, or McCain win. America deserves more of the same, and any of these three are the same flavor.

Sorry to be such a downer. I know that you are digging on Hillary and I appreciate your dedication to your candidate. Peace and low stress and God bless.
