Voters in both states do not support evenly-splitting their delegates; 82% of Florida Democrats and 77% of Michigan primary voters support seating delegates on the basis of the early primary results or using a new primary over an evenly-split delegation. Even among supporters of Barack Obama (who would benefit from an even split), only 42% favored this option.

1. Not going to happen under those terms... It would be totally unfair to seat...
Michigan as is and there is no way in hell the Obama campaign would agree to this.

7. They should be looking at the people who
got them into this mess to begin with. A clear violation of the rules was made and they knew the consequences. Why have rules at all if this is going to be debated?

8. Of course they'll be seated. Everyone should stop worrying.
On all sides. We'll have a nominee long before the convention. That's been made clear by Pelosi, Dean,Reid, Frank, Corzine and others. Read Elizabeth Drew's Politico piece today.

14. How do you have an election without a campaign?
People were told that their vote was not going to count when they made up their mind whether or not to waste their time casting it anyway. There was no campaigning allowed, so the voters didn't know where the candidates really stood on the issues. Nobody could run any ads on TV or campaign in the state so voters could get to know the candidates better. They did have name recognition, where HRC had a big advantage. So how exactly is it fair for Florida to count exactly as the vote count stands today? And Michigan, you couldn't vote for Obama at all. Nobody should have been on the ballot, because they all agreed to not put their name on it. Some of them did it anyway, even after they said they wouldn't. Please explain to me again how it is fair to both Obama and Clinton how you can now count Michigan and Florida in the popular vote and/or delegate vote. Or do you care at all about being FAIR?

17. This quote is very disingenuous and devious.
Let's rephrase this sentence:

"82% of Florida Democrats and 77% of Michigan primary voters support:

A) seating delegates on the basis of the early primary results
or
B) using a new primary"

So which percentage of voters supports A and which percentage of supporters support B?

My bet is that the majority or close to the majority supports using a new primary.

Hypothetically the 82% could consist of 22% A and 62% B.

25. No...
I believe the point is to confuse people by throwing around percentages into thinking that the vast majority supports seating the delegates as is.

But, however made this website, cleverly done.

Edited on Fri Apr-25-08 12:10 PM by ingin
they're the ones that screwed them over, not Barack Obama, or the DNC.

I feel bad, Florida may get no say in this primary round. But if Clinton, and her minions get there way, they will have disenfranchised the other 48 states that followed the rules! Why should we have to pay for Florida or Michigan's Legislatures' screwed up logic that cost them the opportunity to make a huge impact on the nomination process. Now that they screwed around and missed the boat, they want us to go back and get them? Are you fucking kidding?

I have an idea, switch to an entirely paper verified voting system, and I'll support it. If not, then, at least you get to vote in the general.

26. This Poll Doesn't Pass the Smell Test

Look closer. This entire organization was founded over this one issue.

"SaveTheVoters.org, Inc. is a 501(c)(3)-pending non-profit organization."

Pending... The ink isn't even wet on their paperwork, and one of the founders is from Stanford -- probably carpooled there with Chelsea.

They added plenty of nice bar graphs, but didn't even bother to mention how the polling population was selected -- probably all residents of the same beach condo. Nor do they show all the questions... Just the data that supports (go figure) the mission stated right in the name of their organization.

There are plenty of other posts in this forum that describe the push-polling techniques.

27. Those questions look familiar - I think I was polled
and I think the poll was flawed. There was a question about "how should the delegates be split". "Don't seat them" was not one of the options on that question.

And that was after I already responded that the delegates shouldn't be seated.

So to say that 77% support seating delegates based on some split technique seems misleading.

They only said split delegates evenly, hold a new primary, or seat as is.

29. I want to see the break out over seating them as is.
ESPECIALLY IN MICHIGAN.

Those numbers INCLUDE those who would favor a new primary, I would imagine most voters would rather have a new primary rather than their votes not be counted.
